The 30/4 – 1/5 holiday has northern and central provinces of Vietnam facing a scorching heatwave, with temperatures as high as 40 degrees Celsius. To cool off the sweltering heat, tens of thousands of locals and tourists flocked to Sam Son beach.

Sam Son beach is approximately 180km from Hanoi and 15km from Thanh Hoa city. The beach has a crescent shape and stretches for 9km from the foot of Truong Le mountain to Quang Cu commune.

On April 30th, with its sunny and hot weather, Sam Son beach became even more crowded.

As the afternoon progressed, the number of people swimming in Sam Son beach gradually increased. Looking from above, all the bathing areas were packed.

Ms. Hong Hoa (Thai Nguyen) said: “I visit Sam Son beach every year, but this year it is noticeably more crowded and lively than ever. As for prices, I find them reasonable, just like other years. That is partly why I choose to visit Sam Son. Additionally, I feel a stronger sense of vacation vibes here compared to other beaches in the region.”.

Sam Son beach is also a top choice for families during the holiday season, especially since the new highways have reduced the travel time from Hanoi to just over 2 hours.

Mr. Ta Van Linh (Ha Nam) shared: “Compared to previous years, this year’s crowd is significantly larger, which brings me great joy. The weather is also perfect for swimming. If the opportunity arises next year, I will definitely visit again.

On the shore, rescue and first aid personnel are always on standby to provide assistance and guidance to visitors.

Not only the swimming areas but also the food stalls and refreshment shops along the beach were packed with people.

On the road, the influx of vehicles increased steadily. There were times when Ho Xuan Huong Street experienced traffic congestion, with a long line of vehicles.

At 6:30 PM, the beach was still bustling with people.

This year, the opening of the 2024 beach tourism season coincided with the inauguration of the Sam Son beach square and the surrounding landscape, which is expected to increase the number of visitors by 20-30% compared to 2023.

Spanning an area of only 45 square kilometers, the city of Sam Son (Thanh Hoa) is the smallest city in Vietnam with a population of over 110,000. In 2023, Thanh Hoa welcomed more than 12 million visitors, of which Sam Son alone received 8 million (accounting for approximately two-thirds of the entire province).

This year, Sam Son city aims to welcome 8.5 million visitors, with an estimated revenue of approximately 16,000 billion VND.
