Fuel-Efficient Competitor to Toyota Camry Debuts in Vietnam: Drives 200km Without Consuming a Drop of Fuel

Lynk & Co’s 07, an all-new D-segment sedan, was unveiled at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show featuring an advanced plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Lynk & Co’s 07 is the second sedan in the Chinese automaker’s lineup, positioned above the 03 that arrived in Vietnam this year. 

Based on the CMA Evo platform, the new Lynk & Co 07 measures 4,827 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,480 mm tall, with a 2,843 mm wheelbase. Compared to the 03, which shares the same platform, the 07 is 143 mm longer with a 113 mm longer wheelbase. The 07 EM-P is slightly shorter than the Toyota Camry.

The Lynk & Co 07’s exterior design comes as no surprise as it follows the brand’s signature styling.

The car features vertically shaped Aurora Borealis daytime running lights.

The slim headlamps are positioned horizontally below the DRLs. A transparent plastic trim piece with an integrated front-facing camera for the car’s safety features separates the headlights. The rear end also sports a贯穿式taillight design, but with unique fang-like turn signals. Dual-tone, five-spoke, 19-inch alloy wheels are fitted.

The car’s distinctive C-pillar, hidden door handles, and wraparound taillights set it apart. Additionally, this D-segment sedan is equipped with a small spoiler integrated into the trunk lid and several gloss black exterior accents, enhancing its visual appeal.

Inside, the Lynk & Co 07 features premium leather seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel with integrated function buttons, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 15.4-inch portrait-oriented center touchscreen with a 2.5K resolution and ultra-narrow bezels. Powering the Lynk & Co 07 is a plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor, mated to a 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).

The gasoline engine produces a maximum output of 163 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque, while the electric motor mounted on the front axle delivers 218 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque.

The front-wheel-drive version of the car has a combined output of 381 horsepower and 610 Nm of torque. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) version adds a rear-mounted electric motor with 212 horsepower and 290 Nm, bringing the total output to 593 horsepower and 905 Nm of torque.

The standard version of the Lynk & Co 07 utilizes an 18.99 kWh LFP battery that allows for 102 km of pure electric driving, as per the CLTC testing cycle.

The higher-spec version is expected to feature a larger battery pack, enabling it to travel over 200 km on electric power alone.

The full operating range can reach up to 1,400 km, and even when the battery is depleted, the official fuel consumption is just 4.8 liters per 100 km.

The pricing for this model has yet to be announced. If Lynk & Co decides to bring it to Vietnam in the future, the 07 will compete with the Mazda6, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Kia K5 in the midsize sedan segment.
