Baseus Technology has recently discovered that its PPCXM06 and PPCXW06 power bank models may overheat in certain specific situations. As a result, Baseus has filed a product recall application with the Shenzhen Supervision Bureau.

Previously, in the United States, Baseus was also forced to recall approximately 132,000 PPCXW06 units due to fire and explosion concerns. According to reports, there were 171 accidents, including 132 reports of swollen batteries, 39 fires, 13 burns, and property damage exceeding $20,000. Consumers were warned to stop using the product immediately and contact Baseus for a refund.

In mainland China, Baseus launched a “Voluntary Recall Program for PPCXM06 and PPCXW06 Power Bank Models.” This program aims to provide affected users with a product replacement or refund.

Product Recall Specifications:

  • Maximum output power: 20W
  • Capacity: 6000mAh
  • Production code: SN ending in 01 (printed on the side of the product)

Number of Affected Products:

  • PPCXM06: 154,460 units
  • PPCXW06: 200,418 units

According to Baseus’s self-inspection results, the failure rate of sold products is 0.047%.

Baseus stated that a small number of these power banks may experience overheating due to overload. This could lead to fire and explosion hazards when used for extended periods or under specific conditions. The recall plan is a proactive measure implemented by Baseus after discovering issues in their supply chain’s quality control processes.

The company’s representative affirmed that they would continue to practice and implement a rigorous product life cycle quality management system to ensure a positive user experience.

To ensure customer safety, Baseus is offering free replacements with products of equal or higher value or providing refunds to affected customers.

Both the PPCXM06 and PPCXW06 power bank models were sold in the Vietnamese market, and the PPCXW06 model is still being advertised on Shopee. Many Vietnamese users may still be using these products.

To prevent any potential risks, users are advised to temporarily stop using these power banks or bring them to authorized Baseus centers for inspection.
