At the conference to review the business results for the first half of 2024 and deploy key tasks for the second half of the year, held on July 2, 2024, the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) revealed impressive results regarding international passenger and flight numbers.
Notably, ACV reported a strong recovery in international passenger numbers during the first six months, despite a slight dip in overall passenger volume compared to the same period last year. Specifically, passenger numbers reached nearly 54.7 million, accounting for 48% of the plan for 2024 and a decrease of nearly 4% compared to 2023. Of this, international passengers accounted for nearly 20.3 million, an increase of almost 40% year-on-year.
Correspondingly, international take-off and landing numbers also increased significantly by over 27%, reaching 126,703 flights. Meanwhile, domestic take-off and landing numbers decreased by over 22%, recording 206,138 flights.
Cargo operations also witnessed positive developments. Cargo and mail volume reached nearly 730,000 tons, achieving 53% of the plan for the year and an increase of 26% compared to the same period in 2023. International cargo and mail volume reached 498,000 tons, up 21% year-on-year, while domestic cargo and mail volume reached 231,000 tons, an increase of 36%.
Consequently, in the first six months, ACV recorded total revenue of over VND 11,000 billion, up 21.7% compared to the same period and achieving 54% of the yearly plan. Profit before tax was estimated at VND 5,983 billion, an increase of nearly 14% compared to the same period and reaching 64% of the yearly plan.
Thus, preliminarily, ACV’s profit before tax reached VND 2,354 billion in Q2 2024, a decrease of 27% compared to the previous year.
Key Projects Ahead of Schedule
At the conference, the ACV leadership also provided updates on the progress of key projects.
The T3 Terminal project at Tan Son Nhat International Airport has completed 60% of the work, with the structural work already 100% finished. ACV leaders committed to completing the project before April 30, 2025, as per the Government’s request. For the Component 3 project of the Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1, the contracts have been implemented synchronously, with some items ahead of schedule.

Additionally, several projects are in the preparatory stages of investment, including the T2 Terminal project at Cat Bi International Airport, the T2 Terminal project at Dong Hoi Airport, the upgrade project for Ca Mau Airport, and the runway repair project for Vinh and Lien Khuong International Airports.
