Viettel Global’s reports indicate a remarkable performance with a revenue of up to 8,700 billion VND in sales and services, reflecting a 27% increase compared to the second quarter of 2023. This growth far surpasses the global telecommunications growth rate of 6% as per GSMA. Viettel Global has consistently achieved growth for ten consecutive quarters compared to the same period in 2023. This quarter also marks the highest revenue ever for the Corporation.
All nine markets experienced significant growth in the second quarter, with standout performances from Lumitel in Burundi, increasing by 32%, Unitel in Laos up by 30%, Movitel in Mozambique with a 23% rise, Mytel in Myanmar surging by 21%, Natcom in Haiti climbing by 18%, and Telemor in East Timor with a 15% boost.
The electronic wallet companies also showcased impressive growth, with M_mola in Mozambique leading the way at 136%, followed by U-money in Laos at 53%, Halopesa in Tanzania at 35%, and Lumicash in Burundi with a 25% increase.
In May 2024, Movitel (Viettel in Mozambique) climbed to the number one market share position, marking the seventh market for Viettel Global to achieve this feat. For 2024, the Corporation aims to maintain double-digit growth, with traditional telecommunications growth exceeding 10% and non-telecommunications services growing by 20-30%.
Viettel Global’s strategy involves expanding its business space in both depth and width. In terms of depth, to ensure sustainable and efficient development, Viettel Global maintains its number one position and continues to diversify into new services such as Data Center, Cloud, Electronic Wallet, and convenient digital services for governments and citizens. As for width, Viettel Global explores new markets and investment opportunities upon invitations from various nations.
