The Big Two: Banking Giants Prepare for a Massive Capital Injection

The registered capital of Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Bank will increase from VND 5,016 billion to VND 6,408 billion. Similarly, the Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank will boost its registered capital from VND 25,368 billion to VND 29,680 billion through additional share issuances and bonus share distributions.

This week, 15 companies announced record closing dates to pay dividends, with 12 companies paying cash dividends, 1 company paying stock dividends, 2 companies issuing more shares, and 1 company paying a combination of dividends.

Increase of more than VND 4,000 billion

Joint Stock Commercial Bank of Vietnam (BVBank – stock code: BVB) announced that on August 16, it will close the list of shareholders to exercise the right to receive shares issued to increase capital from owner equity sources.

Joint Stock Commercial Bank of Vietnam will increase its charter capital from VND 5,016 billion to VND 6,408 billion.

Accordingly, BVBank will issue an additional 50.2 million shares at a ratio of 10%, meaning that for every 100 shares owned, shareholders will receive 10 new issued shares. After this issuance, BVBank’s charter capital will increase by a maximum of VND 502 billion, to VND 5,518 billion.

In addition, BVBank has been approved by the State Bank of Vietnam to issue nearly 69 million shares to the public for existing shareholders at a ratio of 8:1. The corresponding issuance value at par value is nearly VND 690 billion. BVBank will also issue 20 million ESOP shares at an offering price of VND 10,000/share.

After completing the above issuance plans, BVBank’s charter capital will increase from VND 5,016 billion to VND 6,408 billion. The implementation time is in 2024 and the first quarter of 2025.

Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VIB – stock code: VIB) has just announced that it will distribute bonus shares from owner equity sources to increase its charter capital by more than VND 4,312 billion.

Accordingly, on August 23, VIB will close the list of shareholders to distribute bonus shares at a ratio of 17%, meaning that for every 100 shares held, shareholders will receive 17 newly issued shares. After the issuance, VIB’s charter capital will increase from VND 25,368 billion to VND 29,680 billion.

Investment and Development Joint Stock Company I.P.A (stock code: IPA) has just approved the plan to issue the 2nd private bond tranche in 2024. This bond lot, with the code IPAH2429003, has a maximum issuance value of VND 1,096 billion and a term of 5 years, with a nominal interest rate of 9.5%/year.

This is a batch of “4 no” bonds (non-convertible, non-warrant attached, unsecured, and non-subordinated debt of the enterprise). All proceeds from the issuance are expected to be used to restructure debts from 3 bond lots IPAH2124002, IPAH2124003, and IPAH2225001 with a par value of VND 2,300 billion, maturing at the end of 2024 or early 2025.

Delayed submission of financial statements

Loc Troi Group Joint Stock Company (stock code: LTG) has just sent a document to the State Securities Commission of Vietnam and the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) regarding the temporary postponement of the disclosure of the second-quarter financial statements.

Specifically, Loc Troi Group is facing some force majeure events and needs to focus on stabilizing its production and business capital. All personnel have had to focus on handling immediate financial issues.

The company’s annual general meeting of shareholders in 2024 was held later than in previous years. Subsequently, Loc Troi Group experienced some personnel changes, including key personnel. This has affected the progress of data aggregation and provision to complete the second-quarter financial statements within the prescribed time frame. Therefore, Loc Troi Group would like to postpone the announcement of its second-quarter financial statements until August 30.

Previously, Loc Troi Group dismissed Mr. Nguyen Duy Thuan from the position of General Director from July 15. Mr. Huynh Van Thon – Chairman of the Board of Directors of LTG – temporarily performs the business activities of the enterprise until the appointment of a new General Director.

Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE) has just announced the VN30 basket composition for the July period. This portfolio is effective from August 5, 2024, to January 24, 2025. The list of 30 stock codes in the VN30 basket for the July period remains unchanged from the previous announcement. The banking group continues to dominate with 13 representatives, and many codes have maintained their position in the VN30 basket for several periods, including VCB, BID, HDB, STB, TPB, VIB, VIC, MSN, VRE, SAB, and MWG.

HoSE also announced the list of 5 stock codes in the VN30 basket’s reserve list for the July 2024 period, including LPB, DGC, EIB, NVL, and PNJ. Thus, compared to the previous announcement, HoSE has removed MSB from the reserve list and replaced it with NVL.

On August 8, CNT Group Joint Stock Company (stock code: CNT) will close the list of shareholders to pay dividends for 2023 in cash and shares at a ratio of 27%, including 1% in cash and 26% in shares. With more than 39.9 million shares currently in circulation, CNT will issue approximately 10.3 million shares and spend nearly VND 4 billion in cash to pay dividends for this period to its shareholders.

On August 9, Hau Giang Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (stock code: DHG) will close the list of shareholders to pay the second dividend for 2023 in cash at a rate of 35%, meaning that for every 1 share owned, shareholders will receive VND 3,500. With more than 130.7 million shares currently in circulation, Hau Giang Pharmaceutical is expected to spend approximately VND 457 billion to pay dividends to its shareholders.
