The GAC GS8 is a large SUV with impressive dimensions: 4,980 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,780 mm in height, along with a 2,920 mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 190 mm.
Its front end features a large, symmetrical V-shaped grille that dominates the facade, with full LED lights placed vertically on either side. Electrically adjustable and foldable mirrors add convenience. The GS8 rides on 19-inch wheels as standard, with 20-inch alloys available on higher trims.
The interior of the GS8 offers a minimalist yet modern ambiance with a button-light design and two large screens. A fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster sits behind the steering wheel, while a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an 8-speaker sound system.
With a 2-3-2 configuration, the GS8 accommodates seven passengers. The driver’s seat is 6-way power-adjustable with 2-way lumbar support. Three-zone automatic climate control and a panoramic sunroof are available on higher-spec models.
Under the hood, the GS8 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 248 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. It’s paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The suspension consists of MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear.
Safety is well catered for, with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, HDC, HHC, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The GS8 also offers ADAS features such as Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Intelligent Cruise Assist (ICA), and Traffic Jam Assist (TJA).
In Vietnam, the GAC GS8 is offered in two trim levels. Pricing starts at VND 1.269 billion for the GS8 GL and goes up to VND 1.369 billion for the GS8 GT.
