On August 21, 2023 (Vietnam time), Cristiano Ronaldo sent the online community into a frenzy by launching his first personal YouTube channel, “UR Cristiano.”
In a short period, the Portuguese football superstar broke unprecedented records by bagging the Silver, Gold, and Diamond Play Buttons from YouTube.
Specifically, within just 120 minutes, Ronaldo’s YouTube channel equaled the subscriber count of Lionel Messi’s channel (2.17 million), which has been around for a long time on social media.

According to Variety, Ronaldo’s 120-minute record is the fastest in the world to receive the YouTube Gold Play Button. With this achievement, Ronaldo broke the previous record held by Jennie of BLACKPINK, who took about 7 hours to reach 1 million subscribers.
CR7 also hit the 10 million subscriber mark just 11 hours and 30 minutes after launching his channel. According to WikiTubia, it took the current top Pop star, Taylor Swift, eight years to reach this milestone.
Taylor Swift’s YouTube channel was created in 2006 and took six years to reach 1 million subscribers. By the end of 2014, the singer officially received the YouTube Diamond Play Button with 10 million subscribers.
Previously, this record was held by MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson), one of the world’s most famous YouTubers. It took him about 132 days to reach 10 million subscribers in late 2018.
With this growth rate, Ronaldo is likely to break more records for the speed of achieving Diamond and Ruby Play Button milestones from YouTube. He may also surpass MrBeast’s top spot of 311 million subscribers in the near future.
