The Ministry of Finance has announced new appointments to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, with Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, former Deputy Director General, assuming the role of Director General effective September 1st, 2024.
Additionally, Mr. Tran Duc Hung, Director of the Bac Ninh Customs Department, and Mr. Au Anh Tuan, Director of the Customs Supervision and Management Department, have been appointed as Deputy Directors General of the Vietnam Customs, also effective from September 1st.
During the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Chi congratulated the new leaders, including Director General Nguyen Van Tho and Deputy Directors General Au Anh Tuan and Tran Duc Hung.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Chi acknowledged the extensive experience and strong track record of the newly appointed leaders within the customs sector. Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, the new Director-General, expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Finance and the entire Vietnam Customs team for their support. He acknowledged the significant responsibility that comes with his new position and pledged to work diligently alongside his fellow newly appointed Deputy Directors General.
Mr. Tho also highlighted the upcoming tasks for the Vietnam Customs sector and emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and other relevant units. He sought their continued support and unity to ensure the successful fulfillment of their duties.
The Ministry of Finance also announced the retirement of Mr. Nguyen Van Can, former Director-General, and Mr. Hoang Viet Cuong, former Deputy Director-General, effective September 1st, 2024.
The most extensive bribery case ever in Thanh Hoa: Numerous suspects prosecuted for “Giving and Receiving Bribes”
The Provincial Security Investigation Agency (PSIA) of Thanh Hoa province announced on January 31st that it has made the decision to initiate a prosecution against 23 individuals in connection with the offenses of “Accepting bribes” and “Giving bribes” as stipulated in Article 354(3) and Article 364(2) of the Criminal Code.

The Thanh Hoa Police Investigative Agency has initiated legal proceedings against 23 individuals involved in the crimes of “Bribery” and “Receiving bribes”. This is the largest bribery case in terms of the number of suspects ever discovered and apprehended by the Thanh Hoa Police.
