FPT Semiconductor, the semiconductor arm of FPT, has made a foray into the consumer market with its in-house developed and manufactured 65W charger for laptops and phones. This marks one of the first commercial products from FPT Semiconductor that will be available for purchase by everyday consumers.
The charger, as shared by user Nguyá»…n Thanh SÆ¡n on Facebook, features a standard design with a white body and a foldable plug. It offers two USB-C ports and one USB-A port for connectivity. The highlight of this charger is the prominent FPT logo and the phrase “FPT Chip Inside,” showcasing the company’s pride in their achievement.
While we don’t have images of the internal components, the external design emphasizes FPT’s role in developing the chip inside. Additionally, Nguyá»…n Thanh SÆ¡n shared a unique feature of this charger—a warranty check website. This site allows users to input their information, including their name and activation date, to check the remaining warranty period. This is a rare offering from a charger brand, as most brands don’t provide such a personalized experience.
The website also provides rendered images and specifications of the charger, indicating support for GaN (Gallium Nitride) technology for a more compact design. However, the rendered images do not feature the FPT logo and “FPT Chip Inside” phrase seen on the physical product.
Although the FPT charger is not yet widely available, user Nguyá»…n Thanh SÆ¡n has provided a positive initial assessment. According to them, the charger has a “good build quality, feels sturdy, charges quickly, efficiently, and doesn’t get hot.” They also added, “My laptop, a ThinkPad Business, has a power rating of less than 65W, and it works fine. As for my phone, there’s no need to worry. The charging quality is on par with other brands I’ve used.”
