Vietnam’s automotive market has been abuzz with excitement as the electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast made a bold pledge. Starting September 1st, 2024, the total time for providing genuine parts and components for repair and maintenance services for VinFast electric vehicle lines will be reduced to a maximum of 24 hours. According to industry experts, this is an unprecedented commitment from an automotive brand in the Vietnamese market.

Applauding VinFast’s strong commitment, Associate Professor Dr. Dam Hoang Phuc, Director of the Automotive Engineering Training Program at Hanoi University of Technology, believes that VinFast is demonstrating its role as a true service provider, rather than just a car seller. Moreover, he highly appreciates how the Vietnamese brand is continuously improving its service quality and creating a more comprehensive ecosystem for its customers.

Taking a broader perspective, VinFast’s unprecedented approach is once again setting new standards for the market. “VinFast has been bringing about changes in the market by establishing new precedents and norms,” said Associate Professor Dr. Dam Hoang Phuc.

In fact, VinFast’s recent commitment is one of the bold steps taken by the Vietnamese automaker to make electric vehicles more accessible to domestic users.

Prior to this, VinFast’s special incentive program, effective from August 20th, also surprised the user community with its customer-centric approach. Accordingly, from August 20th to November 30th, purchasers of VF 6/7/8/9 models will receive an incentive equivalent to 50% of the registration fee (in addition to the 100% registration fee exemption as per the government’s policy).

Commenting on VinFast’s customer support policies, an automotive industry expert shared that electric vehicles have never been more accessible to users than they are now. In addition to the aforementioned incentives, they cited the policies implemented during the “Mãnh Liệt Tinh Thần Việt Nam – Vì Tương Lai Xanh” campaign launched by Vingroup some time ago, which are still in effect. These include free charging, free parking (for up to 5 hours), and priority parking at all locations within the Vingroup ecosystem…

Monitoring the progress of Vingroup and VinFast, economic expert Pham Chi Lan, former member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Group, highly appreciates their practical actions.

“The company’s concrete measures will encourage consumers to follow VinFast and promote Vietnam’s green development,” the expert stated.

From a macroeconomic perspective, Dr. Le Xuan Nghia, former Vice Chairman of the National Financial Supervisory Commission, believes that these actions demonstrate Vingroup’s pioneering role in promoting green economy and green growth, as well as creating a broad impact on society.

“VinFast and Vingroup’s pioneering and leading role serves both as a wake-up call and an inspiration for the business community to join hands in building a greener future,” said the expert.

Notably, Vingroup is not just making general declarations or launching campaigns; they are utilizing their own financial resources to support and drive the green transition in transportation, thereby creating a greener environment for society.

“This initiative is highly significant and demonstrates the social responsibility of the leading enterprise in the economy,” emphasized Dr. Le Xuan Nghia.

Towards Community Collaboration for a Green Future

While impressed by Vingroup and VinFast’s pioneering spirit and strong determination, Dr. Le Xuan Nghia believes that no matter how strong a company’s resources are, they cannot do it alone. Solving the pollution problem and building a green future are monumental tasks that require the collective responsibility of the entire society.

“If Vingroup’s initiative receives support and solidarity from the government, the business community, and consumers, creating a large-scale movement for green transition in transportation, the campaign will undoubtedly succeed and hold great significance and value for our future generations,” suggested the expert.

Expert Pham Chi Lan further emphasized the urgency of green transition for sustainable development, as the current pollution levels are alarming. The heavy air pollution is not only detrimental to the health of the people but also poses serious environmental threats to Vietnam’s future. Notably, the country’s major economic, political, and cultural centers, such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, suffer from the worst air pollution, mainly due to emissions from transportation.

According to the female expert, to “rescue” the environment, it is not enough to rely solely on entities like Vingroup, VinFast, or the business sector as a whole. The government needs to play a more active role in this endeavor.

“Why doesn’t the government set a program with a deadline for all government agencies to use only green or pure electric vehicles instead of other types of cars? I believe this is an important step and a message from the government demonstrating its responsibility to its citizens,” she proposed.

Regarding the leading enterprises, Expert Pham Chi Lan expressed optimism as she witnessed VinFast’s decisive shift to pure electric vehicles and their remarkable imprints in the international market.

However, the expert hopes that Vietnamese businesses will first receive the support and solidarity of their fellow Vietnamese. In the cases of Japan and South Korea, the foundation of their globally recognized brands today was built upon strong national spirit and support.
