According to the People’s Committee of Lao Cai Province, 6 out of 9 districts, towns, and cities in the province reported fatalities. The total number of casualties was 255, including 98 deaths, 81 missing persons, and 76 injured individuals.
As of now, the death toll in Nu Village, Phuc Khanh Commune, Bao Yen District, has risen to 44. Seventeen people are undergoing treatment in hospitals. Forty-six people have safely left their residences, while 51 others remain missing.

Many areas in Bat Xat, Bao Thang, Bao Yen, and Bac Ha districts were inundated, and road transportation was disrupted due to landslides. The districts are still in the process of assessing and determining the extent of the damage. Approximately 9,172 houses have been flooded, eroded, or washed away by the floods so far.
In terms of agricultural production, the flood has affected 2,429.24 hectares of rice paddies, 940.36 hectares of corn and other crops, and 144.52 hectares of aquaculture farms. A total of 56 out of 152 communes (36.8%) were completely isolated.
On September 9, over 80% of national highways, provincial roads, and district and commune-managed roads in the province were flooded and impassable by car. After the storm, the province reported damage to healthcare, education, irrigation, and telecommunication facilities. The People’s Committee of Lao Cai Province has proactively directed departments, branches, agencies, and local governments to focus on responding to the storm, floods, and landslides. The province allocated VND 24 billion from its budget reserves to enable local governments to actively support and overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
The People’s Committee of Lao Cai Province requests that the Government and the Prime Minister consider providing early financial support for the province to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, stabilize the lives of the people, and restore production and socio-economic development in the province.
It is proposed to support VND 1,000 billion, including about VND 300 billion to repair and rebuild houses and ancillary works to serve the people’s daily activities, and VND 700 billion to repair and overcome landslides on transportation routes, and to rebuild headquarters, schools, hospitals, and other public works.
