The renowned motorcycle brand, Taitonda, has recently unveiled its second-generation Karla 125 scooter in the Chinese market.
According to the released information, the Taitonda Little Karla comes in two variants: Standard and Deluxe, with a starting price of 4,980 Chinese yuan (approximately over 16 million Vietnamese dong). Remarkably, this price is even lower than that of the Wave Alpha, a popular manual motorcycle model currently sold in Vietnam, which has a listed price of 19 million dong.
Autohome, a reputable automotive website, praised the scooter for its competitive pricing. The Standard version is offered at 4,980 yuan, while the Deluxe variant is priced at 5,980 yuan. These two configurations differ in terms of engine specifications and features.
With its attractive pricing, the Karla 125 is expected to become a fresh and convenient transportation option in the urban scooter segment.
In terms of design, the Taitonda Karla 125 seamlessly blends retro styling with modern elements. Its body lines are sleek and robust, featuring a bold front end with LED headlights and daytime running lights. This combination not only enhances safety during night rides but also adds a fashionable touch to the scooter’s overall appearance.
Taitonda openly acknowledges that the Karla 125’s exterior design follows a popular template, utilizing readily available components. Additionally, by maximizing distribution channel profits and eliminating extra fees, they have been able to optimize the product’s pricing remarkably.
Both variants are powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled 125cc engine. The Standard version delivers a maximum output of 6.8 kW and a peak torque of 9.2 Nm.
On the other hand, the Deluxe version boasts upgraded components from renowned brands, resulting in enhanced performance figures of 7.2 kW of power and 9.5 Nm of torque.
Not only does the Deluxe variant offer a more powerful engine in the 125cc segment, but it also incorporates an automatic engine shut-off feature after 3 seconds of idling. Both versions have a rated power output of 8.8 kW.
Furthermore, the Taitonda Karla 125 boasts several notable features, including an LCD display, a USB charging port, and full LED lighting. These features rival those found on the Honda Vision, a well-known scooter in the market.
With a seat height of just 700mm, lower than most 125cc scooters, along with its compact dimensions, a 5.1-liter fuel tank, and a claimed fuel consumption of 2.1 liters per 100 km, the Karla 125 is a practical and efficient choice. The scooter has a curb weight of 95 kg.
In terms of braking, the Standard version of the Taitonda Karla 125 is equipped with a front disc brake and a rear drum brake but lacks ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). On the other hand, the Deluxe variant benefits from disc brakes on both wheels and the addition of CBS (Combined Braking System) for improved safety.
With the introduction of the Taitonda Karla 125, a new benchmark has been set for pricing in the 125cc scooter segment. Will this scooter spark intense competition in the market? Only time will tell.
