On September 20, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized an auction for the allocation of import tariff quotas for sugar in 2024.
Seven traders registered for the auction of import tariff quotas for sugar in 2024, submitting complete and valid documents and bid sheets.
As a result, the quotas were allocated to seven traders as follows: Vietnam Sugar Joint Stock Company (20,000 tons), Quang Ngai Sugar Joint Stock Company (20,000 tons), Lam Son Sugar Joint Stock Company (20,000 tons), Thanh Thanh Cong – Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company (20,000 tons), Bien Hoa Consumer Goods Joint Stock Company (20,000 tons), AgriS Ninh Hoa Import-Export Joint Stock Company (20,000 tons), and Song Lam Sugar Joint Stock Company (1,000 tons)
A total of 121,000 tons of sugar quotas for 2024 were allocated through the auction, accounting for 96.03% of the total published import tariff quotas of 126,000 tons for that year.
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in implementing Vietnam’s commitments at the World Trade Organization (WTO) on the management of import tariff quotas, and based on the authority assigned by the Foreign Trade Management Law (2017), the Minister of Industry and Trade signed and issued Decision No. 2226/QD-BCT dated August 20, 2024, on the volume, timing, and method of allocating import tariff quotas for sugar in 2024. Accordingly, the volume of import tariff quotas for sugar allocated through auctionssection name: auction in 2024 is 126,000 tons.
In addition, Decision No. 2227/QD-BCT dated August 20, 2024, of the Minister of Industry and Trade on the establishment of the Council for the Allocation of Import Tariff Quotas for Sugar in 2024 by auction was also issued. These documents have been officially posted on the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s portal for relevant traders, organizations, and units to know and implement.
Furthermore, the announcement regarding the organization of the allocation Session on September 11, 2024, was also made in accordance with Circular No. 11/2022/TT-BCT and the plan approved by the Council for the Allocation of Import Tariff Quotas for Sugar in 2024 by auction at its meeting on August 26, 2024.
