Vietjet Air and Xanh SM Electric Taxi Join Forces to Offer Affordable Airport Transfers
Vietjet Air and Xanh SM, an electric taxi company, have partnered to introduce the E-voucher taxi service, offering passengers an affordable and environmentally friendly way to travel from airports to city centers.
The E-voucher taxi service provides travel packages with discounts of up to 20% compared to regular prices. For example, a 15-kilometer package starts at just VND 200,000, applicable to Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, and Da Nang airports. A 30-kilometer package is available from VND 350,000 at Hanoi, Phu Quoc, Khanh Hoa, and Quang Ninh airports.
Passengers can conveniently purchase the E-voucher during the flight booking process on the Vietjet Air website or through the Vietjet Air application.
Xanh SM has been providing airport transfer services (bookable via their app) since 2026. Recognizing the increased demand for airport transportation, especially during peak holiday seasons, the electric taxi company expanded its operations to several provinces and cities with the highest tourist traffic in the country. These include Hanoi (Noi Bai Airport), Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat Airport), Da Nang (Da Nang Airport), Thua Thien Hue (Phu Bai Airport), Khanh Hoa (Cam Ranh Airport), and Kien Giang (Phu Quoc Airport).
The airport taxi market also includes ride-hailing apps like Be and Grab. In 2022, Be Group introduced the beAirport feature at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh City) and Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi). Grab also offers GrabAirport services at various airports, including Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, and Lien Khuong (Da Lat).
There are numerous airport transfer services available in the market, with one-way trip fares ranging from VND 250,000 to VND 350,000, depending on the distance traveled. Two-way trip fares, including the return journey, start from VND 420,000, varying based on the company, vehicle type, kilometers traveled, and toll fees.
The Potential for Airport Transportation Services is Significant
The demand for airport transportation is substantial, especially during holidays and festive seasons. This provides a favorable condition for the development of airport passenger transportation services.
Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) estimates that the total number of passengers passing through ACV-managed airports during the 2025 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday could reach 10.5 million (higher than the 10 million passengers recorded during the 2024 Tet peak month).
Many flights during the Lunar New Year period have occupancy rates of 70% to 80%, particularly those from Ho Chi Minh City to northern and central provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Quy Nhon, Chu Lai, and Dong Hoi. The number of passengers is expected to continue rising in the coming month.
In preparation for the 2025 Lunar New Year peak season, Vietnamese airlines have planned to add more aircraft and increase capacity on domestic and international routes.
Tan Son Nhat Airport will also increase its hourly flight capacity to 46 flights per hour during the daily peak hours of 5:00 am to 11:55 pm, a significant increase from the average of 38-40 flights per hour on regular days. The turnaround time for aircraft has been reduced to 25-42 minutes, down from 60 minutes previously, to optimize aircraft utilization.
The Skies Open Up: Aviation Giants Prepare for Takeoff with a Fleet of New Aircraft Ahead of Lunar New Year
Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air, the country’s leading airlines, are planning to expand their fleets by acquiring additional aircraft. This strategic move underscores the carriers’ commitment to enhancing their operational capabilities and accommodating the growing demand for air travel in Vietnam and beyond. With these new additions to their fleets, the airlines are poised to elevate their services, offering passengers increased flight options, improved connectivity, and a more seamless travel experience.
Airlines Anguish Over Accusations of Profiteering from Soaring Airfares
Several airlines have recently reported significant profits, leading to speculation that these profits may be the result of increased domestic airfares.
