High-end supermarkets and electronics stores in Ho Chi Minh City offer a wide range of TV models, some with prices reaching hundreds of millions of dong. However, these premium TVs often experience significant price drops shortly after their launch due to their limited appeal.
Many 2023-2024 models have already seen price reductions of 30%-60%. For instance, the QLED Samsung 8K 85-inch QA85QN900DKXXV TV, initially priced at VND 299 million, is now available for VND 169 million. Similarly, the LG 77-inch OLED Evo 4K C4PSA, originally priced at VND 119 million, now costs VND 66 million. Another example is the Samsung 8K 85-inch QLED QA98QN990C, which had a staggering launch price of VND 949 million but now sells for VND 390 million…

These high-priced premium TVs are often purchased for home decoration rather than everyday use.
Older models have seen even more significant price drops. For instance, the Sharp 4K 70-inch LC-70UD1X, initially priced at VND 125 million, now costs only around VND 15 million.
Retailers attribute the rapid devaluation of these high-end TVs to their high prices, which make them less accessible to the average consumer. If prices remain unchanged, it can lead to inventory buildup and capital stagnation. Mr. Doan Thanh Quoc, a business manager at an electronics supermarket in District 10, explains that while these premium models are indeed exclusive, they serve to attract customers to purchase lower-segment products.
