The Vietnamese automotive market has been more vibrant than ever with the entry of renowned brands and numerous new models across segments.
In particular, the introduction of the mini electric car segment with two names, the Wuling Mini EV and VinFast VF 3, has attracted a lot of attention from consumers. These electric cars serve not only individual customers but also are the top choice of many transport businesses.
Most recently, consumers were again stirred up when Let’s Go An Binh Joint Stock Company with TMT Automobile Joint Stock Company signed a cooperation agreement to purchase 1,000 Wuling electric cars. This includes 600 Wuling Mini EVs and 400 Wuling Bingos.
This is the largest Wuling electric car purchase contract to date. At the same time, these cars will be delivered by TMT Motors to Let’s Go Taxi from now until the second half of 2025.
Mr. Tran Luu Van, CEO of Let’s Go An Binh Joint Stock Company, said that the mini electric taxi service has received a positive response from customers.
“After more than 6 months of providing the service, we evaluate the Wuling Mini EV as a reliable car for taxi service due to its low initial investment, low maintenance and operating costs, only VND 250/km, much lower than motorcycles. While motorcycles (or motorbike taxis) can only carry one person, the mini taxi can carry three people, providing shelter from the sun and rain, and is equipped with air conditioning,” he emphasized.
Mr. Van added that with the Wuling Bingo 333 km version, the fare would be around VND 9,000/km, which is about 2/3 of the current market taxi rates.
The Wuling Bingo 333km version has a battery capacity of 31.9kWh, so every 100 km will consume about 9.58 kWh of electricity. If calculated according to the electricity price for household use of VND 3,130/kWh, 100km of travel of the Wuling Bingo will cost only about VND 30,000, which is about VND 300/km. With this energy consumption rate, the Wuling Bingo has a lower operating cost than a conventional motorcycle, which runs on gasoline, at about VND 350/km.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Bui Quoc Cong, Vice Chairman of the Board of TMT Motors, said that after Let’s Go Taxi used nearly 300 Wuling Mini EVs in Phu Yen and Binh Dinh provinces with an attractive fare of only VND 8,000/km, it has created good competition in the market.
“Let’s Go Taxi continues to trust the stable quality of Wuling electric cars in the process of using the taxi service to sign a purchase of 1,000 Wuling electric cars, once again affirming that Wuling is a brand with very stable quality, not only meeting the needs of taxi services but also serving consumers well. Let’s Go Taxi has requested TMT Motors to allow exclusive exploitation of taxi services in four provinces: Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Gia Lai, and Dak Lak.”
It is known that Let’s Go Taxi officially launched its electric taxi service in mid-May 2024. Recently, the mini electric taxi brand has continuously announced recruitment information for many different positions to prepare for its expansion plan. After Phu Yen and Quy Nhon, the next cities that this taxi company is aiming for are Buon Ma Thuot in DakLak and Pleiku in Gia Lai.
With a fare of VND 8,000/km, the Let’s Go Taxi service using the Wuling Mini EV has the lowest fare today, which is only about half of the regular taxi fare.
In addition to taxi services, Let’s Go Taxi also offers self-driving car rental services at only VND 450,000/day for 170km of free electricity charging, or car rental with a driver at only VND 790,000/day to meet the needs of customers who want to rent a car with a full package.
