Dong Nai Province has recently proposed to the Prime Minister the establishment of a free trade area within the Long Thanh International Airport urban area and its vicinity.
In the master plan for Dong Nai Province for the period of 2021–2030, with a vision towards 2050, the province identified the Long Thanh International Airport urban area as encompassing Long Thanh district and a part of Nhon Trach district.
Specifically, the urban area of Long Thanh International Airport and its vicinity are oriented towards the planning of several functional subdivisions with five development spaces, including: a space for commercial, service, financial, and event organization activities, along with international-standard shopping complexes surrounding the airport; a space for cultural, sports, and tourism activities; a space for research, education, and training; a space for logistics and industrial activities; and a space for urban renovation, rearrangement, or planning of rural residential areas within the study boundary.
According to Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province, in the planning scheme for the development of the Long Thanh International Airport urban area and its vicinity, the province has also planned the formation of large-scale logistics centers.
To efficiently utilize these logistics centers, the locality proposed the establishment of a free trade area within the Long Thanh International Airport urban area and its vicinity to maximize the potential and advantages offered by the airport.
