Wage and Bonus Situation for the 2025 Lunar New Year in Vietnam

As suggested by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs, December 15th is the deadline for provinces and cities to report on wage and bonus situations for the upcoming Lunar New Year. Information from these localities shows that the 2025 bonus situation does not differ much from the previous year; however, there still exist significant gaps in bonus amounts.

Thus far, many provincial Departments of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs have reported to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs on the labour and wage situation in 2024 and the 2025 Lunar New Year bonuses of enterprises for labourers. According to reports from these localities, there have appeared enterprises with “huge” Lunar New Year bonuses for employees, alongside average bonus levels.

Ha Giang

In Ha Giang, according to the report of the Provincial Department of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs, the highest bonus for the 2025 Solar New Year is VND 3 million/person, and the lowest is VND 250,000/person.

For the Lunar New Year, the survey shows that the highest salary is VND 109.6 million/person, and the lowest is VND 300,000/person.

In 2024, the average wage of workers in the province reached VND 8.78 million/person/month. The highest wage was VND 31.6 million/person/month. Up to now, no unit has been recorded to owe wages to workers.

Thai Nguyen

After consolidating the reports of more than 300 enterprises with nearly 146,000 employees, the Provincial Department of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs said that the bonus for the 2025 Solar New Year is expected to be the highest at VND 85 million/person, the lowest at VND 100,000/person, and the average bonus is VND 900,000/person.

For the Lunar New Year, enterprises plan to bonus the highest amount of up to VND 175 million/month, the average bonus is VND 7.5 million/month, and the lowest is VND 100,000/month.

Dak Lak

The report on the 2025 bonus situation of 118 enterprises in Dak Lak province shows that: 70 enterprises plan to bonus the 2025 Solar New Year for 10,233 employees, with an average income of VND 1.65 million per person; the highest bonus is VND 80 million/person, and the lowest is VND 100,000/person.

Besides, 93 enterprises plan to bonus the 2025 Lunar New Year for 13,240 employees, with an average of VND 6.13 million/person, the highest bonus is VND 94 million/person, and the lowest is VND 200,000/person.

Binh Duong

The “industrial capital” of Binh Duong has also announced the 2025 Lunar New Year bonus levels of enterprises in the province. According to the Provincial Department of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs, out of more than 1,700 reporting enterprises, more than 1,670 enterprises have planned for the Lunar New Year bonus.

Accordingly, the highest bonus for the 2025 Lunar New Year is VND 375 million/person, belonging to a foreign-invested enterprise (FDI). The average bonus for this occasion is about VND 8.77 million/person, and the lowest is VND 4.96 million/person, equal to the regional minimum wage 1. For the Solar New Year, the highest bonus is VND 368 million, also belonging to an FDI.

Can Tho

Regarding the wage, bonus, and labour relations situation in the city, the Municipal Department of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs said that more than 800 enterprises have reported, with more than 49,000 employees.

The highest bonus for the 2025 Solar New Year is expected to be VND 151.4 million, belonging to an FDI. The average bonus is expected to reach VND 3.16 million, and the lowest is VND 200,000 (FDI).

For the Lunar New Year occasion, the highest bonus is expected to be VND 300 million, and the lowest is VND 200,000, both belonging to the private enterprise sector.

Long An

Leading in bonus levels up to now is Long An. According to the Provincial Department of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs, the highest bonus for the 2025 Lunar New Year of enterprises in the province is VND 519 million/person, belonging to an FDI.

The average bonus is VND 8.5 million/person, but the lowest bonus is only VND 1 million/person for workers who have just started working for less than 12 months.

For the 2025 Solar New Year, the average bonus is VND 2.2 million/person, the highest is VND 30 million/person, and the lowest is VND 0.2 million/person for workers who have just started working for less than 6 months.

In 2024, Long An was also the locality with the highest bonus for the Lunar New Year, with VND 5.68 billion/person, belonging to a senior management position in an FDI. At the same time, 2024 also recorded a breakthrough in the highest bonus for the Lunar New Year, which is also the highest from the past up to the present.

Thanh Hoa

Information from the Provincial Department of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs of Thanh Hoa province has just reported to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs on the labour and wage situation, surveying 1,232 enterprises. These enterprises belong to all four types and are currently employing more than 220,000 workers.

The reported data also shows that the average wage paid this year at the one-member limited liability companies with 100% state-owned capital is VND 7.9 million/month, the highest is VND 65 million/month, and the lowest is VND 3.9 million/month.

The bonus for the 2025 Solar New Year is expected to be VND 1.9 million/person, the highest is VND 12 million, and the lowest is VND 200,000 at eight enterprises belonging to the one-member limited liability companies with 100% state-owned capital, for 4,610 labourers.

The bonus for the 2025 Lunar New Year at 83 foreign-invested enterprises (FDI) with more than 160,000 employees is expected to be VND 4.9 million/person on average, the highest is VND 410 million, and the lowest is VND 70,000.

The bonus for the 2025 Solar New Year is expected to be VND 140,000 on average, the highest is VND 146.6 million, and the lowest is VND 50,000 at 75 FDI enterprises with more than 140,000 employees.

What is the average salary at companies?

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs requires units under the Ministry and localities to review and understand the production and business situation of enterprises, labor recruitment needs, especially FDI enterprises, and labor-intensive industries (textiles, footwear, wood production…) immediately after Tet holiday in order to come up with a plan to connect labor supply and demand.
