This special energy project, with EVNNPT as the investor, SPMB as the project management unit, and the Electricity Transmission Corporation 4 as the operator, was reported by Baochinhphu.vn.
The construction of the 500kV double-circuit power line starts at the 500kV distribution yard gate column of the Nhon Trach 4 Power Plant and ends by connecting to the conductors between towers 74 and 75 of the existing Phu My- Nha Be 500kV power line.
The project is the only transmission line that helps evacuate power from the Nhon Trach 4 Power Plant (with a capacity of over 800MW) to the National Power System. The operation of these thermal power plants will contribute to energy security and increase local budget revenues. The project’s completion ensures a stable power supply in the southern provinces from 2025 onwards.
The Nhon Trach 3 and 4 Power Plants, with a total investment of 1.4 billion dollars, are owned by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group. The combined capacity of the two plants is 1,624MW, and they are expected to provide between 9 and 12 billion kWh of electricity per year. This is the first thermal power project in Vietnam to use liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel.
Previously, to ensure experimental power supply and capacity evacuation for the Nhon Trach 3 and 4 Power Plants, EVNNPT reported to the authorities for the approval of the 220kV power line project connecting Nhon Trach 3 to Nhon Trach 1,2, and Bau Sen, which is part of the Nhon Trach 3- Long Thanh 500kV transformer substation 220kV power line project. On May 15, 2024, the project was energized, ensuring reverse power transmission and grid connection for the experimental power generation of the Nhon Trach 3 Power Plant.
