The foreign exchange rate on January 16th witnessed a decrease in the value of the Vietnamese Dong (VND) against the US Dollar (USD), while the exchange rate with the Chinese Yuan remained relatively stable.
Specifically, at the State Bank of Vietnam, the central exchange rate was set at 24,333 VND per USD, a decrease of 5 VND from the previous day.
With a +/- 5% fluctuation band, the ceiling and floor rates are currently 25,549 VND/USD and 23,116 VND/USD, respectively. The reference exchange rate at the bank’s trading room remains unchanged at 23,400-25,450 VND/USD (buying-selling).
As of 8:30 am, Vietcombank and BIDV listed the buying and selling rates for USD at 25,189-25,549 VND/USD, a decrease of 5 VND from the previous day.
Regarding the Chinese Yuan, Vietcombank’s exchange rates for the morning were 3.408-3.517 VND/CNY (buying-selling), unchanged from January 15th. Meanwhile, BIDV decreased the buying rate by 1 VND while maintaining the selling rate, resulting in rates of 3.423-3.528 VND/CNY (buying-selling).
