On the evening of August 2, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project, including the Tan Van-Nhon Trach section and the Nhon Trach Bridge.

In reality, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project is 76 kilometers long and passes through three localities: Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and Tay Ninh. This project has a total investment of up to VND 75,300 billion, funded by the state budget. The project was inaugurated on June 18, 2023, and is currently being expedited to facilitate technical clearance for the Long An section in October this year and complete the entire route by 2026.

According to experts, the completion of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 will open up breakthrough development opportunities for the industrial parks along the route. This road will reduce transportation time, connect major logistics hubs, optimize the supply chain, and increase investment efficiency due to its direct linkage to several critical transport arteries.

At the construction site, the project management board reported to the Prime Minister that as of the end of July, Sub-project 1A, the Tan Van-Nhon Trach section (passing through Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai) with a length of 8.22 km, had achieved nearly 98% of the construction volume and will be opened to traffic on August 19. In addition, the Nhon Trach Bridge, a key item of Sub-project 1A and the largest bridge on the Ring Road 3, will also be opened on the same day.

After listening to the report, the Prime Minister presented gifts to encourage the officers, engineers, workers, and employees at the construction site. He also commended the Ministry of Construction, the investor of Sub-project 1A (the My Thuan Project Management Board), and the localities for completing the Nhon Trach Bridge 1.5 months ahead of schedule.

According to the Prime Minister, this will connect Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to the promotion of economic development in the Southeast region, reducing travel and logistics costs for people and businesses, as well as increasing the competitiveness of goods and enterprises.

The construction of Package XL01, with a total length of 8.22 km, including 6.3 km in Dong Nai Province and 1.92 km in Ho Chi Minh City, has a total investment of over VND 6,900 billion. Of this, VND 1,800 billion was invested in the Nhon Trach Bridge. The My Thuan Project Management Board (under the Ministry of Construction) is the investor.

Once operational, the project will provide a continuous connection from the starting point in Dong Nai Province across the Nhon Trach Bridge to Ho Chi Minh City, while shortening the distance from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai, Long Thanh International Airport, and neighboring provinces. Notably, the Nhon Trach Bridge is considered not only a critical component of Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3 but also plays a strategic role in connecting the city with the Eastern and Western regions of the South.

The Nhon Trach Bridge is designed with 39 pillars and 2 abutments, built to the standard of grade-III plain roads. The bridge has a designed speed of 80 km/h, a width of 20.5 – 26 m, including four lanes for motor vehicles and two mixed lanes.

Upon its completion, the Nhon Trach Bridge will connect with the interchange of Sub-project 1, thereby helping to reduce the load on the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway. It will contribute to long-distance traffic diversion and alleviate congestion on expressways and the city’s inner roads.
