According to the Bac Ninh provincial People’s Committee’s online portal, Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Chairman of the People’s Committee, reported on the regular July government meeting, which was held online with the participation of 34 provinces and centrally-run cities regarding investment attraction in the province.

He stated that the total value of Bac Ninh’s exports to the United States is expected to account for approximately 23-25% of the country’s total exports.

The province noted that foreign investors maintained strong confidence from the time the US announced its intention to impose taxes on imports from Vietnam until the actual implementation.

Specifically, in the first seven months, Bac Ninh attracted $3.9 billion in FDI. Foreign investors remain particularly interested, including some semiconductor investors who have already invested or are investing in the province and are expanding their production.

In August, the province is expected to organize the granting of Investment Registration Certificates to FDI investors (with a total value of $1.1 billion) and domestic investors (with a total value of VND 5.8 billion).

The province’s import and export turnover in the first seven months reached approximately $47.8 billion, up 24.1% over the same period. Budget revenue in the province reached 80.8% of the estimate, and domestic revenue reached 85% of the estimate, up 50% over the same period.

Furthermore, the disbursement of public investment capital reached 70.11% compared to the Government’s assigned capital. According to the People’s Committee, the province focuses on urging investors to expedite site clearance, address difficulties in raw materials supply, and accelerate the progress of investment disbursement to complete 100% as committed to the Government.

Regarding key tasks for the last months of the year, Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan emphasized that the province will focus on starting and completing key projects by August 19, including the Gia Binh International Airport project and the connecting road. At the same time, Bac Ninh will also focus on reviewing difficulties and obstacles to come up with timely solutions.

At the meeting, Bac Ninh proposed that the Government soon issue guidance on regulations on the classification of administrative units, standards for administrative units, urban standards, and standards for urban administrative units to implement them promptly at the grassroots level.

Along with that, the province suggested that the Government issue a resolution on solutions to continue implementing planning in association with the arrangement of administrative units while waiting for the amended Law on Planning to be issued as a basis for adjusting the provincial planning for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

“Development is often likened to ‘running and queuing simultaneously’. Speed is represented by ‘running’, while structure is represented by ‘queuing’. Queuing is fundamental and long-term; it not only affects the running speed but also influences various states of stability and crisis, agriculture-based or industrial-based economies, and market-oriented or non-market-oriented economies. Given its significance, structure and structural transformation deserve greater attention.”
