The 7-seater segment, including small MPVs, is one of the most popular in Vietnam. The main advantage of these vehicles is their 3-row seating and spacious interior, making them ideal for both business and family use.
This segment often sees promotions and discounts to attract customers. In August, several 7-seater models in Vietnam are offering significant price reductions of up to tens of millions of VND.
The standout model this month is the Mitsubishi Xpander, Vietnam’s best-selling MPV since the beginning of 2025. The versatile Japanese vehicle is currently offering a 50% discount on registration fees, along with additional gifts from the manufacturer.
For the 2024-manufactured, manual transmission model (VIN 2024), the discount amounts to 45.5 million VND, bringing the price down to approximately 514.5 million VND.
The automatic transmission variants, AT and AT Premium, see discounts of 45 million and 73 million VND, respectively. After the promotion, their prices are reduced to 553 million and 585 million VND. Meanwhile, the Xpander Cross variant enjoys the highest discount of 75 million VND, bringing its price down to 623 million VND.
Toyota’s Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio, direct competitors to the Xpander in the small MPV segment, are offering 100% registration fee support in August.
This translates to a discount of 56-60 million VND for the Avanza Premio and 64-66 million VND for the Veloz Cross, bringing their prices down to a range of 502-538 million VND and 574-594 million VND, respectively. When combined with gifts from the manufacturer, the total value of incentives can reach up to 69-75 million VND.
Despite increased promotions in recent months, Toyota’s small MPV duo is still lagging behind the Xpander in sales. In the first half of 2025, the Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio sold a total of 3,717 units, while the Mitsubishi model delivered 8,187 vehicles to Vietnamese customers.
In the Korean segment, Hyundai is offering discounts on the Stargazer (priced at 489-599 million VND) to boost sales. The MPV benefits from a 50% registration fee support in August, equivalent to a discount of around 24.5-30 million VND depending on the variant.
Some dealerships are offering additional promotions, bringing the maximum discount to 40 million VND. As a result, the actual selling price of the Korean MPV is now more accessible within the segment.
Following Hyundai, Kia, another Korean automaker, is also providing incentives for its 7-seater models, the Carens and Carnival. Both vehicles benefit from a 50% registration fee support, with potential total savings of up to 65 million VND for the Carnival. Specifically, the Carnival 3.5G Signature 7-seater from the previous generation sees the highest discount of 210 million VND, bringing its price down to approximately 1.55 billion VND.
Lastly, the Kia Sorento SUV is offering discounts of up to 80 million VND depending on the variant. After the promotion, this 7-seater model starts at 899 million VND.
Notably, the discounted Kia Sorento variants are all 2025-manufactured models. This could be a strategy to clear inventory for the upcoming new version. The facelifted Kia Sorento was globally unveiled in mid-2023 and was spotted at an emission testing center in Hanoi last year. According to sales consultants, the 2025 Kia Sorento is expected to be launched in Vietnam in Q3.
