From May 4-5, Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Tourism estimated that approximately 2.7 million visitors flocked to the city’s tourist attractions, entertainment spots, and recreation areas during the period of April 20 to May 4, with a peak on April 30. International arrivals reached roughly 355,000, contributing to a total revenue of VND 15,707 billion.
These figures, specifically during the 5-day holiday for the liberation anniversary, showcase a significant surge compared to the same period last year. Ho Chi Minh City has been the focal point of celebrations, hosting a series of events and activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and national reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).
As early as mid-March, hotels in central districts like District 1, 3, 4, and Phu Nhuan, where artistic performances, parades, light festivals, and culinary events took place, witnessed full occupancy.

During the official holiday period, hotels in the city center, ranging from 1 to 5 stars, reported occupancy rates of 95% to 100%. Even accommodations in peripheral areas enjoyed high occupancy, reaching over 80%.
Many families from across Vietnam shared their excitement about the festive atmosphere in Ho Chi Minh City, although they had to settle for accommodations in districts like Go Vap and District 12 due to the high demand for rooms in the city center.
Local travel agencies noted a substantial increase of 30-35% in bookings for city tours and short-haul trips compared to the previous year. Popular destinations included the Suoi Tien Cultural Tourist Site, Cu Chi Tunnels, War Remnants Museum, and the Reunification Palace, among others.
