According to a recent report, the affordable MacBook featuring the iPhone’s A18 Pro processor is set to enter mass production in Q3 2025 and could launch before the end of the year.
This information aligns with renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s initial claim that Apple is planning to produce a MacBook utilizing the iPhone’s A18 Pro processor as a cost-cutting measure. Subsequently, references to such a device were discovered in the source code of macOS Sequoia, released in 2024.
Digitimes reports that at least some components for this MacBook are expected to enter mass production in the latter part of Q3 2025. Citing unidentified sources within the supply chain, the report further asserts that the new MacBook will be priced between $599 and $699.
This pricing strategy would position the new MacBook in direct competition with the Mac mini. It would also undercut the current base model 13-inch MacBook Air, which starts at $999, by a significant $300 to $400.
Based on initial insights, the new MacBook will feature a slightly smaller display of 12.9 inches. According to MacRumors, the production schedule suggests a release timeframe of late 2025 or early 2026, corroborating Kuo’s earlier report.
While Kuo doesn’t provide a more specific release date or pricing information, he does mention that the device will likely feature a 13-inch display and be offered in silver, blue, pink, and gold color options.
Apple’s goal, according to Kuo, is to sell 5-7 million units of the new MacBook in 2026.
