According to Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan, following the Prime Minister’s directive on the preparation for the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies, by August 13th, the Ministry of Construction had received reports from 34 provinces and cities, 17 ministries and sectors, and 18 corporations and general companies.
The Ministry of Construction reviewed and compiled a list of 250 projects and works from the ministries, sectors, localities, corporations, and general companies in 34 provinces and cities that met the requirements for inauguration and groundbreaking. (Including 89 projects ready for inauguration and 161 projects ready for groundbreaking)
“Specifically, by sector: 59 projects in transportation infrastructure; 44 in civil and urban works; 57 in industrial construction; 36 in technical infrastructure; 22 in social housing; 6 in agriculture and rural development; 3 in culture and sports; 12 in education; 1 in defense; and 10 in healthcare,” said Mr. Le Anh Tuan.
Among the 250 projects, there are 8 national key projects, 46 Group A projects, 155 Group B projects, and 41 Group C projects, with a total investment of VND 1,280,000 billion. Of this, VND 478,000 billion is from state capital for 129 projects, and VND 802,000 billion from other sources for 121 projects.
Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan informed that out of the total of 250 projects eligible for inauguration and groundbreaking, 80 sites were selected for live and online television broadcasts, and the remaining projects would be organized simultaneously.
“The inauguration and groundbreaking ceremonies for the projects and works will take place at 9 am on August 19th, with the main venue at the National Convention Center (Dong Anh district, Hanoi), in the form of live and online television broadcasts,” said the Deputy Minister of Construction.
Regarding notable projects to be inaugurated on this occasion, Mr. Le Anh Tuan mentioned the National Exhibition Center of Vingroup. According to the original plan, the project was to be completed by 2027, but with the vigorous efforts of the Government, ministries, and sectors, construction began on August 30, 2024, and will be inaugurated on August 19, significantly reducing the construction time.
Another notable project is Viettel’s Research and Development Center, which is a typical facility for researching high-tech equipment, especially semiconductors, AI, and Data, with a total investment of about VND 10,000 billion. There is also the Nghe An Oncology Hospital project with a total investment of VND 1,259 billion and a scale of 1,000 beds, and the Hai Anh Wind Power Plant project worth VND 1,565 billion…
In the field of transportation, the Rach Mieu Bridge project will be inaugurated – a typical and remarkable work. In the past, the construction of a suspension bridge would have required foreign consultants and contractors, with Vietnamese subcontractors, and a lengthy construction period. Now, with advanced technology, the design contractor is also a Vietnamese contractor, and the construction unit is also a Vietnamese construction unit, completing the project four months ahead of schedule,” said Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan.
Regarding the impact of these projects, according to Mr. Le Anh Tuan, the 250 projects contribute over 18% of the country’s GDP in 2025 and over 20% in subsequent years.
