KienlongBank recently issued an urgent warning about a new variant of the BianLian 2025 malware, a sophisticated banking Trojan capable of perfectly mimicking banking app interfaces, stealthily capturing login credentials and OTP codes, and sending them to attackers.
Experts consider this a particularly dangerous threat to customers using digital banking services. BianLian 2025 has evolved to employ more covert attack methods, disguising itself within fake VNeID apps, public service apps, utilities, or games. Users are at risk of infection simply by downloading these fake apps from unfamiliar links received via messages, social media, or unofficial websites.

To minimize the risk of financial loss and personal information exposure, users should be vigilant when downloading unfamiliar apps. (Illustrative image)
Once installed, BianLian 2025 operates covertly, waiting for users to open their banking app. It then overlays an almost identical fake interface, tricking users into entering their login details, passwords, and OTP codes. This information is instantly relayed to the attackers’ server.
Analysis suggests that the malware can even “learn” from victims’ typing patterns to further refine its deceptive interface, making fraud detection incredibly challenging.
To protect yourself from potential financial loss and personal information exposure, KienlongBank recommends the following:
1. Only download apps from official sources like Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS). Refrain from installing apps from unknown sources.
2. Be cautious if you notice any unusual characteristics in your banking app’s interface, such as misaligned layouts, odd colors, or sluggish performance. If suspicious, close and reopen the app. If concerns persist, discontinue use and contact KienlongBank immediately.
3. Never share your login credentials, passwords, OTP codes, or PINs with anyone, including individuals claiming to be bank employees or authorities.
4. Keep your operating system and banking apps up to date to benefit from the latest security patches.
5. Install reputable security software and enable Google Play Protect to detect and block malicious apps.
If you suspect any unusual activity on your device or believe your account has been compromised, immediately contact KienlongBank via their hotline 1900 6929 and report the incident to your local law enforcement agency.
