The Prime Minister has issued Official Dispatch No. 136, dated August 14, announcing that the country will celebrate the inauguration and groundbreaking of 250 projects at 80 locations nationwide on August 19, at 9 am, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2. Breaking down the projects by sector, 59 transport infrastructure projects will be inaugurated and initiated on August 19.
Notably, the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project, spanning the Tien River and connecting Vinh Long and Dong Thap provinces, will be operational from August 19, four months ahead of schedule.
With a total investment of over VND 6,800 billion, the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project commenced in March 2022. The project is nearly 18 km long, with 8 km traversing Dong Thap province and approximately 10 km passing through Vinh Long province.
The project encompasses the Rach Mieu 2 cable-stayed bridge, nearly 2 km long, featuring a main span of over 500 meters, the My Tho Bridge at 450 meters, and access roads spanning over 15 km, conforming to Grade III plains road standards.

On August 19, six expressways, totaling 208 km in length, will be opened to traffic, including the Vung Ang-Bung and Van Ninh-Cam Lo routes.
The Vung Ang-Bung Expressway, stretching over 55 km, commenced construction in January 2023, with a total investment of over VND 12,540 billion. It originates at Ky Hoa commune, Ha Tinh province, interconnecting with the Ham Nghi-Vung Ang Expressway. Its terminus is at Bo Trach district, Quang Tri province, intersecting with the Bung-Van Ninh Expressway (opened in April) at the Phong Nha node.
Phase 1 of the Vung Ang-Bung Expressway comprises four lanes without emergency lanes, a 17-meter-wide roadbed, and a designed velocity of 80-90 km/h. The project is under the management of Project Management Unit 6 (Ministry of Construction).
The Van Ninh-Cam Lo Expressway, with a total investment of nearly VND 9,920 billion, commenced construction in January 2023 and is overseen by the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Authority. This 65.5-km-long expressway starts from Van Ninh commune, continuing from the Bung-Van Ninh Expressway at the National Highway 9B intersection and the completed overpass.
Phase 1 of the Van Ninh-Cam Lo Expressway features four lanes, allowing for speeds of 60-90 km/h. Upon completion, the expressway will be expanded to six lanes with two emergency lanes and a designed velocity of 100 km/h.

Apart from the aforementioned two expressways, four other expressways will complete their main routes on August 19: the remaining 13 km of the Van Phong-Nha Trang Expressway project; sections of the Quang Ngai-Hoai Nhon (10/88 km), Hoai Nhon-Quy Nhon (45/70 km), and Quy Nhon-Chi Thanh (20/62 km) routes; and the Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan Expressway.
Simultaneously on August 19, the Ministry of Construction will initiate several key transport infrastructure projects, including the Dau Giay-Tan Phu Expressway, spanning over 60 km in Dong Nai province, with a total investment of nearly VND 8,500 billion under the BOT format; the Dong Dang-Tra Linh Expressway Phase 2 project; and the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh Expressway.
According to the Construction Newspaper, eight projects are expected to break ground in the fourth quarter of this year. These include the completion of Cu Mong Tunnel; the upgrade of the road connecting the Hanoi-Haiphong Expressway with the Cau Gie-Ninh Binh Expressway to a highway standard in Hung Yen province, up to the Thai Ha intersection; the construction of the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Haiphong railway; the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway; the completion of Than Vu Tunnel; the completion of Nui Vung Tunnel; the construction of Ninh Cuong Bridge crossing the Ninh Co River on National Highway 37B; and the expansion of the Cam Lo-La Son Expressway section.

The construction team is gearing up for the inspection on August 12, followed by the anticipated handover to Dong Thap and Vinh Long provinces on August 19.
