Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Inaugurated, Connecting Dong Thap and Vinh Long Provinces

The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, spanning the Tien River, is a project with a total investment of over VND 6,800 billion, which began construction in March 2022 and has now been officially completed. The bridge is over 17 km long, with its starting point at the Dong Tam intersection in Dong Thap Province and its endpoint connecting to National Highway 60 in Vinh Long Province, about 1 km from Ham Luong Bridge.

Attending the inauguration ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, along with leaders of the provincial Party Committees and People’s Committees of Dong Thap and Vinh Long provinces, and representatives of central and local departments and sectors.

Mr. Nguyen Tam Thinh, representing the contractor, stated that this bridge is the most challenging project in Vietnam. While the construction of Rach Mieu 1 Bridge took seven years, Rach Mieu 2 Bridge was completed in just under three years, finishing six months ahead of schedule. To ensure timely completion, 1,200 workers worked in three continuous shifts, even during holidays and Tet.
Expansion of Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Highway Begins

The project involves the urgent expansion of the initial section of the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Highway to 8-10 lanes, with a total investment of over VND 16,000 billion.

The expansion covers a distance of nearly 22 km, from the Ring Road 2 intersection in Ho Chi Minh City to the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Highway intersection in Dong Nai Province. The investor, VEC, expects to substantially complete the project by 2026, helping to alleviate traffic congestion, especially when Long Thanh Airport becomes operational. The Long Thanh Bridge is slated for completion in the first quarter of 2027. Nhon Trach Bridge Connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province Opens to Traffic

The Management Board of My Thuan Project (Ministry of Construction) organized the inauguration of Project 1A, including the Nhon Trach Bridge, which is over 2 km long, and an 8 km section of Ring Road 3 connecting from DT.25B (Dong Nai) to the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Highway. The total investment for this project is VND 6,900 billion.

From 7 am on August 20, cars were allowed to travel on the route, except for trucks over 1.5 tons and buses with more than 16 seats. Motorcycles are only permitted on the DT.25B – Ly Tu Trong (Dong Nai) section and are not yet allowed to cross the bridge. It is expected that in the second phase, to be completed by the end of 2026, motorcycles will be allowed to cross the Nhon Trach Bridge, providing a direct connection between Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City.
Construction Starts on Dau Giay – Tan Phu Highway, Reducing Travel Time to Da Lat

At the Dau Giay interchange in Dong Nai, the Thadico – Son Hai joint venture held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Dau Giay – Tan Phu Highway project (phase 1) under the PPP format. The 60 km long project, with a scale of four lanes, has a total investment of nearly VND 8,500 billion. The starting point is located at the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Highway, and the endpoint is adjacent to the Tan Phu – Bao Loc section. The construction period is 24 months. Once operational, the highway will reduce traffic congestion on National Highway 20 and shorten travel time between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat.
Construction Commences on Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project

Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has started construction on the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project in Dong Nai Province, with a total investment of over VND 3,900 billion and an installed capacity of 200 MW. The project includes a water intake channel, intake gate, pressure pipeline, power plant, and discharge channel. It is expected that the first unit will be put into operation in the third quarter of 2027, and the second unit in the fourth quarter of 2027. Upon completion, the project will contribute to the power supply in the South, efficiently utilize water resources, reduce CO2 emissions, and lower the country’s electricity production costs.
Vingroup Launches a 3.5 Billion USD Urban Area Project in Tay Ninh

Vingroup has commenced construction on the Phuoc Vinh Tay New Urban Area project, spanning nearly 1,090 hectares, with a total investment of approximately 3.5 billion USD. The project, developed by a joint venture between Vinhomes and VIG, will offer 7,050 townhouses, 8,200 villas, 13,440 social housing units, and 2,370 resettlement houses, accommodating a population of nearly 90,000 people. This is one of the largest urban areas in the vicinity of Ho Chi Minh City.
Construction Begins on Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai Highway Project

The highway has a total length of 51 km, with 24.7 km passing through Ho Chi Minh City and 26.3 km through Tay Ninh Province. The starting point is connected to Ring Road 3 at Phu Hoa Dong Ward in Ho Chi Minh City, and the endpoint is located at the National Highway 22 intersection in Ben Cau District, Tay Ninh Province, about 7 km from the Moc Bai international border gate. The highway is designed as a high-speed route with a maximum speed of 120 km/h. Phase 1 involves the construction of four complete lanes, along with an intelligent transportation system, toll stations, and auxiliary works. The total investment for this project is VND 19,617 billion.
HUD Commences Construction of 209 Social Housing Units in Ho Chi Minh City

HUD has started construction on 209 social housing units in Hiep Binh Ward, with a total investment of over VND 387 billion. The project consists of three 7-story blocks, integrated with commercial amenities, parking lots, a swimming pool, and a modern security system. This is one of the first projects to apply Resolution 201 of the National Assembly, contributing to the goal of developing 13,040 social housing units by 2025.

On August 19, the Ministry of Construction will inaugurate several key transport infrastructure projects, including the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge and the Van Ninh-Cam Lo Expressway. These projects are set to revolutionize transportation networks and connectivity across the region. Additionally, the ministry will also commence construction on the Dau Giay-Tan Phu and Dong Dang-Tra Linh projects, further enhancing the country’s road and highway systems.
