The Trà Khúc 3 Bridge project, with a total investment of 850 billion VND, of which 525 billion VND is from the central budget and the remaining is from the provincial budget of Quảng Ngãi, spans the Trà Khúc River.

The project, with the Quảng Ngãi Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor, was started at the end of 2022. This is one of the key projects of Quảng Ngãi province in the period of 2024-2025 and is in the list of projects to celebrate the 21st Congress of the Provincial Party Committee for the term 2025-2030.

The Trà Khúc 3 Bridge has a total length of 2.55 km, including a 710-meter bridge and an over-1.8-km approach road.

The bridge has 15 spans, a deck width of 22.9 meters, and an upper structure consisting of 3 concrete-filled steel arch spans and 12 U-girder spans of 38 meters in length made of pre-stressed concrete.

The project plays an extremely important role in connecting Nghĩa Giang and Sơn Tịnh communes, forming a synchronous and inter-regional transport network, thereby promoting economic and social development. Moreover, when the bridge is operational, it will connect two important routes, National Highway 24B and Provincial Road 623B.

Previously, to name the bridge, Quảng Ngãi province established a council with representatives from various sectors, collected opinions from departments and branches, and consulted experts. The suggested name “Hà Thuận” was proposed for the Trà Khúc 3 Bridge.

However, the proposed name “Hà Thuận” faced differing opinions, such as it not being included in the list of road and public works names of Quảng Ngãi, and the combination of the old names of the communes north and south of the project, Tịnh Hà and Nghĩa Thuận, to form “Hà Thuận,” with the explanation of “harmonious river” being unconvincing…

After several rounds of discussion, the specialized agencies worked together to research and evaluate names, and “Phước Lộc” was unanimously agreed upon by researchers, authorities, and local people for the Trà Khúc 3 Bridge.

According to the leaders of Quảng Ngãi province, the name “Phước Lộc” was chosen based on practical, historical, and geographical considerations of the area where the project is located.

Specifically, this was the name of a ferry that existed on the river in the past, and the area was also associated with the name of Phước Lộc commune, the Phước Lộc water station – a symbol closely connected to the land of Núi Ấn Sông Trà in general and the construction site of the Trà Khúc 3 Bridge in particular.

Thus, after 3 years of construction, the Phước Lộc Bridge has been completed and will officially open to traffic tomorrow (August 19)
