“When well-managed and biosecurity is ensured, enterprises will not only minimize the risk of epidemics, protect the health of the pig herd, and increase business efficiency but also make important contributions to stabilizing the supply of clean and traceable meat at reasonable prices for the market. This will help ensure Vietnam’s food security… BAF Vietnam is striving, along with other key projects, to make Quang Tri a bright spot in high-tech livestock farming and the development of modern and sustainable agriculture,” said Ms. Bui Huong Giang, General Director of BAF Vietnam, at the project’s groundbreaking ceremony.

Quang Tri province has a tradition of agricultural production, in which livestock farming plays a leading role, with the industry’s production value growing steadily at 8-10% per year. With various aggressive implementation plans, the province’s livestock industry has witnessed a strong shift from small-scale household farming to modern farm models, attracting many large-scale investment projects.

“Upon completion, the Gia Han High-Tech Pig Farm project will bring many practical values: providing stable jobs and increasing income for local workers; enhancing the value of agricultural products; contributing to the state budget; boosting the province’s economic growth. The project also contributes to forming a closed chain from animal feed – farming – slaughtering – processing – consumption, thereby positioning and affirming the province’s agricultural product brand in the domestic and international markets. At the same time, the project opens up opportunities for international cooperation, attracting capital, technology, and management experience from advanced countries, consolidating the province’s position as an attractive destination for high-tech agriculture investment,” said Mr. Tran Phong, Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Tri province.

“The Gia Han High-Tech Farm project of BAF Company is implemented at a golden time for industry transformation and is expected to create a breakthrough, contributing to realizing the goals of the strategy for the development of the livestock industry in the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045… The project’s highlight is the application of a series of the most advanced technologies in the world, which are being applied in livestock farming in Vietnam for the first time. The project is a vivid demonstration of the modern and sustainable development of Vietnam’s livestock industry, which is efficient and environmentally friendly,” he said.

Vietnam’s livestock industry still faces challenges due to the African Swine Fever. At the same time, the industry is shaping the trend of transformation and modernization towards concentrated large-scale farms, operating according to international standards, and being environmentally friendly. Therefore, biosecurity and environmental protection are essential factors in helping enterprises move closer to their business and sustainable development goals.

With the experience transferred by the world’s largest livestock group, Muyuan, BAF confidently upgrades its biosecurity assurance system and waste management process, recycling and efficiently utilizing resources based on technology application. This ensures a stable supply of clean and traceable meat at reasonable prices for the market, contributing to stabilizing food security, reducing negative impacts on the environment, developing a circular economy, and laying a solid foundation for sustainable development – a goal that all enterprises and organizations worldwide are focusing on.

BAF is aiming for a vision to become one of the leading companies in Vietnam’s pig industry by 2030, with a scale of 450,000 sows and 10 million market hogs.
