The high-speed North-South railway project spans a length of 1,541 km, starting at the Ngoc Hoi Station in Hanoi and ending at the Thu Thiem Station in Ho Chi Minh City. The route passes through 15 provinces and cities and includes 23 stations, five of which are dedicated to cargo.
According to reports, the section of the high-speed North-South railway project in Thanh Hoa province is over 95 km long and runs through seven wards and 12 communes.
The total land area required for the project is over 570 hectares, including approximately 480 hectares of agricultural land and 90 hectares of residential land.
More than 2,100 households are expected to be relocated and provided with resettlement. Additionally, about 41 facilities, including production and business establishments, technical infrastructure, and public works, will also need to be relocated.
Given the large number of affected households, Thanh Hoa province plans to build 39 resettlement areas in 16 wards and communes, covering an area of about 300 hectares, with a total investment of nearly VND 3,900 billion.

To facilitate the project, localities along the route have begun land clearance work.
In Hoang Giang commune, for example, the large amount of residential land involved, as well as the impact on schools, means that the task of land clearance, including inventory and resettlement, is considerable.
To date, the commune has established a Land Clearance Steering Committee, headed by the Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, and a Council for Compensation, Support, and Resettlement. They have also commenced land clearance work, conducted propaganda, and mobilized the people…
The People’s Committee of Hoang Giang commune has also carried out preliminary staking in the field, reviewed and compiled a preliminary list of affected households and works, and held meetings with villagers in the wards.
In Dong Tien ward, the project passes through the ward with a route length of about 3 km. Recognizing the importance of the project, the ward is intensifying propaganda to create consensus among the people. At the same time, they are coordinating and implementing preparatory work related to the task of site clearance for the project.
The North-South high-speed railway is a project of particular importance in promoting socio-economic development and narrowing the gap between regions.
Given the significance of the project, Thanh Hoa province aims to complete the construction of resettlement areas by September 2026, basically complete the site handover to the construction contractor before December 2026, and complete the entire site clearance work in the first quarter of 2027 as planned and on schedule.
