Nurturing Vietnam’s Emerging Technology Ecosystem

QVIC is an annual initiative to foster the development of Vietnam’s emerging technology ecosystem. It focuses on identifying and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises engaged in research and product development in critical technology areas, including AI, edge computing, 5G, IoT, robotics, smart cities, automotive technology, and other breakthrough solutions.

Startups participating in QVIC gain access to Qualcomm’s advanced mobile platforms and technologies, enabling them to develop innovative products. With patent filing incentives, over 101 patent applications have been filed by participating companies, showcasing significant progress in intellectual property protection and enhancing commercialization value.

Speaking at the event, Sudeepto Roy, Vice President of Engineering at Qualcomm Incorporated, highlighted that 2025 marks the fifth anniversary of QVIC, demonstrating the company’s sustained commitment to nurturing Vietnam’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

According to Mr. Roy, this year’s challenge witnessed the highest-quality submissions to date, with 80% of the finalists focusing on AI at the edge. Through patent protection, these companies are pioneering advancements in IoT, robotics, AI marketing, EdTech, smart customer experiences, and sustainable agriculture.

Representing the Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Pham Hong Quat, Head of the National Agency for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization (NATEC), affirmed that in Vietnam’s innovation journey, technological talent is the strategic resource determining the country’s position on the global technology map.

He emphasized that QVIC is more than a competition; it serves as a launchpad for startups to receive mentorship, experiment, and tackle global challenges. Additionally, Qualcomm’s inauguration of its AI R&D center in Vietnam is expected to unlock new resources for the high-tech startup ecosystem and encourage more corporations and businesses to invest in innovation.

With its impactful outcomes, the program not only creates a professional platform for Vietnamese startups to showcase their capabilities but also contributes to taking Vietnamese intelligence and creativity to the international stage, turning today’s ideas into tomorrow’s solutions.
