The market witnessed a positive week in terms of both indices and liquidity during the trading week of May 12-16. The VN-Index rose 2.7%, surpassing the 1,300 mark, while the HNX-Index climbed 2% to reach 218.7 points.

Liquidity on the HOSE and HNX exchanges increased by over 30%. Specifically, trading volume and value on the HOSE rose by 33% and 40%, respectively, reaching 90 million units and nearly VND 24 trillion per session. Meanwhile, the HNX exchange recorded a 45% surge in trading volume to 87.2 million units per session and a nearly 40% increase in trading value, amounting to VND 1.3 trillion per session.

Market Liquidity Overview for the Week of May 12-16

 

The money flow last week showcased enthusiasm in the banking group, with many bank stocks witnessing a sharp rise in liquidity. Notably, VPB stood out with a liquidity increase of over 220%, reaching nearly 50 million shares traded per session.

Other bank stocks, including VCB, BID, MBB, MSB, ACB, VIB, and NVB, were among the top gainers in liquidity, with increases ranging from 90% to 130%. The majority of bank stocks witnessed positive price movements during the week.

Additionally, the securities group also attracted some money flow. Stocks such as APG, APS, BVS, MBS, SHS, and VFS simultaneously witnessed a sharp rise in liquidity.

Amid the overall market’s upward liquidity trend, real estate stocks exhibited a mixed performance. TDH, SGR, BCG, API, TIG, and NDN attracted strong money flow last week and recorded positive price movements. In contrast, LDG, NVL, KDH, NTL, and NRC were among the stocks that witnessed capital outflows.

Despite the positive broader market sentiment, the oil and gas group experienced slight capital outflows. Stocks like BSR, PLC, PVS, and PVC witnessed declines in liquidity.
