The Department of Construction, through its monitoring and supervision, has identified several roads and residential areas in Ho Chi Minh City that require a review of their house numbering and signage. This review will serve as a basis for the People’s Committees of wards, communes, and special districts to issue or adjust plans for house numbering and signage within their respective areas.
The Department of Construction emphasizes that the review of house numbering and signage, as outlined in Circular No. 08/2024 by the Ministry of Construction, should only be applied to newly constructed areas or areas where house numbering has not yet been implemented. For areas that had house numbers in the past but lacked uniformity or order, the People’s Committees of communes and wards can decide to follow the guidelines in Circular No. 08/2024 or adhere to the previous house numbering principles to minimize disruption to the daily lives of residents.
In the case of residential and construction works in urban areas, with roads spanning two or more wards or communes, the People’s Committees of the respective wards or communes shall coordinate to finalize house numbers at addresses bordering administrative boundaries, thus ensuring a consistent house number order along the entire road.
For residential areas along national highways that fall under the administrative boundaries of multiple wards or communes, the People’s Committees of adjacent wards or communes shall organize a review of house number order, following the principles of house numbering and road naming for such areas.
Regarding residential and construction works in rural areas, the Department of Construction requests the People’s Committees of the respective communes to review and assess whether the house numbering in their localities has been affected by the recent administrative rearrangement in Ho Chi Minh City. If there are any impacts, a plan for adjusting house numbers should be established, continuing the previously applied uniform house numbering principles.
