On May 20, Vietnam Transportation Tourism and Marketing Joint Stock Company – Vietravel (code: VTR) will finalize the list of existing shareholders for the offering of nearly 28.7 million shares at a 1:1 ratio, meaning that for every 1 share held, shareholders will have the right to purchase 1 new share. The issuance price is VND 12,000/share, and if successful, the maximum amount of capital raised will be VND 344 billion, increasing the charter capital to VND 573 billion. The proceeds will be used to repay the company’s debts.

Today’s session on May 19 is the last trading session before the shareholder registration date. Notably, VTR’s market price surged by more than 5.5% to VND 17,200/share. However, overall, the stock has not been able to break out of its long-term downtrend.

Previously, on March 13, 2025, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Tien reported the purchase of 6 million VTR shares. As a result, she became the largest shareholder of VTR, holding 6 million shares or 20.94% of the charter capital. On the opposite side, Hung Thinh Group reported selling all of its 6 million VTR shares, equivalent to 20.94% of the charter capital, on the same day.

On the same day, the market recorded a matched trade of 6 million shares worth VND 168 billion. The average price was VND 28,000/share, 25% higher than VTR’s closing price at that time, which was VND 22,400/share. It is likely that this transaction involved Ms. Thuy Tien and Hung Thinh Group.

Ms. Nguyen Thuy Tien has become the largest shareholder of Vietravel, surpassing Hung Thinh Group, with a holding ratio of 20.94%. This ratio is higher than that of Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky (10.98%), Vietravel Group (14.28%), and VinaCapital (10%).

Based on the post-adjustment share price, Ms. Thuy Tien’s investment is temporarily estimated to be losing about 14%, equivalent to nearly VND 17 billion, after two months of becoming a major shareholder of VTR.

In terms of business results, in the first quarter of 2025, Vietravel recorded revenue of VND 1,294 billion, up 8% over the same period in 2024. However, profit after tax decreased by nearly 53% to VND 5.9 billion.
