In their recent proposal to the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the DCH consortium expressed their interest in participating in key national projects, such as urban railway, green transportation, and high-tech industrial projects, to ensure focused and efficient investment and construction.
This proposal aligns with the spirit of Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW dated May 4, 2025, issued by the Politburo on promoting the development of the private economy. The consortium aims to contribute to affirming Ho Chi Minh City’s position as a leading economic and cultural center.
The DCH consortium wishes to be the EPC contractor, taking responsibility for investing in and constructing railway projects, including Metro Line 2 (Ben Thanh-Tham Luong), Thu Thiem – Long Thanh railway, and the new city route connecting Binh Duong and Suoi Tien.
Their primary objective is to obtain the EPC contract for the construction of the Ho Chi Minh City railway project, with a planned commencement in 2025. Metro Line 2 is the second urban railway line in Ho Chi Minh City, following Metro Line 1, which began commercial operation in late 2024.
Spanning over 11 kilometers, Metro Line 2 will pass through six districts: District 1, District 3, District 10, District 12, Tan Binh, and Tan Phu. The project was approved in 2010 with an initial investment of approximately $1.3 billion. In 2019, the investment was adjusted to over $2 billion.
Ho Chi Minh City is expediting procedures to commence Metro Line 2 this year. The contractor selection process is expected to take place in October 2025, with the official groundbreaking planned for December 2025. The project is anticipated to be completed and operational by the end of 2030.
