In celebration of the 80th National Day Anniversary (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025), the Hanoi People’s Committee is offering a special treat to its residents and visitors alike. From August 30 to September 2, 2025, all bus and urban railway rides will be completely free of charge! This thoughtful initiative aims to facilitate smooth travel during this significant holiday while promoting the use of public transportation to reduce traffic congestion and foster a greener, more modern, and cultured city.

This waiver applies to all 128 subsidized bus routes and the two operational metro lines: Cat Linh – Ha Dong (Line 2A) and Nhon – Cau Giay (Line 3.1). During this period, passengers can still obtain tickets at their regular prices or present their monthly, preferential, or free tickets as usual, but they won’t incur any travel expenses.

This initiative not only reduces travel costs for citizens but also enhances the experience for those participating in the grand parade, march-past, and visits to revolutionary historical sites during this momentous occasion.

Functional units are also proactively adjusting their operational plans, including increasing trip frequency, extending operating hours, and closely monitoring passenger volume to ensure they meet the demands of this peak travel period.

Additionally, the urban railway lines will adjust their operating hours to accommodate passengers’ travel needs. On August 21, 24, 27, and 29, the trains will run from 5:30 AM to 12:00 AM midnight; on August 30, they will operate from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM; and on September 1, from 5:30 AM to 12:00 AM.

On the special day of September 2, the trains will run continuously from 12:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with a headway of 6 minutes during peak hours and 10 minutes during regular hours. There will be a brief 80-minute technical break during this period.

In Ho Chi Minh City, HURC1 (HCMC Urban Railway One Member Co. Ltd.) announced that the Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) will also offer a 100% fare discount on National Day, September 2. Passengers can use their citizen identification cards with chips for direct scanning at the ticket gates or generate QR codes through the HCMC Metro HURC application.

The “QR Doc Lap” feature, available from September 2, enables passengers to scan QR codes to pass through the ticket gates, valid only for that day. If passengers choose to purchase paper tickets or use the regular payment system, they will be charged as per normal, and refunds will not be provided.

According to HURC1’s representative, this promotional program aims to encourage citizens to experience the convenience of Metro Line 1 and facilitate their travel during this festive season.
