As per the announcement from Novaland (Novaland, code: NVL), Mr. Bui Cao Nhat Quan – son of Chairman Bui Thanh Nhon, successfully sold over 2.9 million NVL shares on May 19, 2025.
The transaction was made through the order-matching method. Following this sale, Mr. Quan’s holdings decreased to over 75.3 million units, equivalent to a 3.862% ownership stake. Based on the closing price of that day, the proceeds from the sale are estimated to be approximately VND 35 billion.
Previously, Mr. Quan was unable to sell more than 3.9 million NVL shares between March 21 and April 18 due to unfavorable market conditions.

Mr. Bui Cao Nhat Quan, born in 1982, previously held the position of Vice Chairman and Deputy General Director of Novaland but resigned from both roles in May 2017.
On the same trading day, Mr. Quan’s mother and sister, Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Suong and Ms. Bui Cao Ngoc Quynh, registered to sell over 221,000 and 8.4 million NVL shares, respectively, from May 16 to June 13, for personal reasons.
Additionally, two organizations related to Mr. Nhon, Novagroup and Diamond Properties, also registered to sell over 3.9 million and 3.2 million NVL shares, respectively.
Regarding business performance, Novaland will seek shareholder approval for a share issuance to settle debts with creditors, including major shareholders NovaGroup and Diamond Properties.
“During Novaland’s most challenging period, our major shareholders committed to standing by us and providing support to help the corporation repay maturing debts when necessary and maintain continuous operations,” the company stated.
In early 2022, Novaland’s share price started declining, and soon after, a series of adverse market developments pushed the company into a crisis, causing NVL shares to plunge. During this period, to rescue Novaland, the group of shareholders related to Mr. Bui Thanh Nhon lent their shares to the company for sale to repay debts and actively sold a large number of NVL shares to help restructure the company’s debt, resulting in a continuous decrease in their ownership stake to 60.8% in June 2022 and 38.7% in December 2024.
According to Novaland, the share issuance to settle debts with certain creditors is due to these creditors having sold collateral to repay Novaland’s loans and bonds. While the additional share issuance may temporarily dilute existing shareholders’ interests, Novaland and its major shareholders are committed to achieving the proposed business plan and recovery goals to protect the interests of all shareholders and related parties.
For 2025, Novaland has planned two business scenarios: Scenario 1 projects a revenue of VND 13,411 billion and a loss after tax of VND 12 billion, while Scenario 2 estimates a revenue of VND 10,453 billion and a loss after tax of VND 688 billion.

The company stated that the factor with the most significant impact on Novaland’s business results is the progress in resolving legal obstacles for its projects. Therefore, the two proposed business plans for 2025 are cautiously based on two scenarios: one assuming a more favorable situation and the other a less favorable one.
