According to TTXVN’s correspondent in Singapore, the Southeast Asia Semiconductor Industry Exhibition (SEMICON SEA) 2025, themed “Stronger Together,” was held at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre from May 20-22.

As part of the exhibition, on May 20, the National Innovation Center (NIC) collaborated with the Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore, Meta, and the Southeast Asia Semiconductor Association to organize an investment forum titled “Vietnam – Destination for Innovation and Strategic Technology.” The forum aimed to promote cooperation and investment in strategic technologies such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), smart manufacturing, and high-tech.

In an interview with TTXVN’s correspondent in Singapore, Mr. Vu Quoc Huy, Director of NIC, revealed that the center has built an extensive network of partners to carry out investment activities and support innovation in Vietnam, such as their collaboration with Meta.

This year, NIC and Meta are jointly implementing a program to mobilize solutions to build an open-source Vietnamese language data set for AI applications in Vietnam, abbreviated as ViGen.

If successfully developed, the Vietnamese language data set will make AI applications more accessible and convenient for Vietnamese users.

Mr. Rafael Frankel, Meta’s Director of Public Policy for the Asia-Pacific region, shared that this is the third year Meta has participated in the Vietnam Innovation Challenge. While last year’s focus was on AI and semiconductors, this year, Meta is concentrating on building Project ViGen, one of the largest data sets in Vietnam designed for open-source Large Language Models (LLMs).

Mr. Frankel revealed that Meta is making a massive AI investment in Vietnam.

Vietnamese businesses participating in the event also actively sought to attract foreign investment.

Commenting on the investment environment for innovation in Vietnam, Mr. Ng Aik Hock, Director of Public Services and Cities for Asia-South Asia Pacific at Dassault Systèmes, said, “Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing industrial hubs globally, supported by a strong government pushing for Industry 4.0 and stable manufacturing, racing in digitization. This creates a demand to drive product lifecycle management solutions and virtual twin experiences. Dassault Systèmes is ramping up investments and resources to serve both current and future Vietnamese customers.”
