According to the Thanh Hoa Police, through monitoring online activities, they discovered that Nguyen Thi Dung frequently livestreamed on TikTok to sell well-known cosmetic brands at extremely low prices. Suspecting that she might be involved in the production and trading of counterfeit cosmetics, the police decided to take action.

Upon inspecting the house Dung rented in Minh Son, Thieu Son, the authorities seized a large quantity of unidentified chemicals, solutions, empty cosmetic containers, and equipment used for producing counterfeit cosmetics, including 3 mixers, 7 mixer bars, and other tools for mixing cosmetics.

A subsequent search at her residence in Dong Khang Village (Hop Thang Commune) led to the discovery and confiscation of 256 bottles of self-produced cosmetics (comprising 24 different types, such as makeup removers, skin creams, acne serums, and skin whitening creams), along with 122 bottles of cosmetics of unknown origin, lacking invoices, and without a business license.

According to Thanh Hoa Police, Nguyen Thi Dung had produced and sold thousands of bottles of counterfeit cosmetics into the market

During interrogation, Dung confessed that around December 2024, she joined a Facebook group specializing in buying and selling cosmetics. She started purchasing cosmetics to resell from home via Facebook. Realizing the high profitability and noticing that online customers often lacked knowledge about cosmetics and were attracted by low prices, Dung conceived the idea of producing counterfeit cosmetics for profit.

To execute her plan, Dung purchased creams, serums, and mixing agents from Facebook for VND 50,000/kg, along with color and fragrance additives.

She then used a handheld mixer to blend these substances, attempting to mimic the original cosmetic products. Afterward, she poured the mixtures into containers collected from previously used branded cosmetics.

From late 2024 until her arrest, Nguyen Thi Dung successfully sold over 1,000 orders to customers across Vietnam.

The case is currently under further investigation by the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police.
