The Road Less Traveled: Unveiling the Dung Quat – Sa Huynh Coastal Highway Project in Quang Ngai

On September 6th, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province organized a groundbreaking ceremony for the Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road project, phase IIB, in Mo Cay commune.

The Duong Ven Bien Dung Quat – Sa Huynh project, phase IIB, spans from Km76+230 to Km82+000, starting at the intersection with Duong DH37 and passing through Mo Cay and Lan Phong communes before ending at the fields of Tra Cau ward.

This 5.8-kilometer-long road is designed as a second-class plain road with a 12-meter-wide foundation and an 11-meter-wide concrete surface consisting of two asphalt layers.

The total investment for phase IIB amounts to nearly VND 100 billion, funded by the central and provincial budgets. The construction is scheduled to take place between 2025 and 2026.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Sam, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee, affirmed the importance of this component project as part of the larger Duong Ven Bien Dung Quat – Sa Huynh project, which spans over 100 kilometers.

This infrastructure serves as a critical link in the master plan for Vietnam’s coastal roads, connecting central regions, opening up new development spaces, strengthening regional linkages, and integrating coastal economic zones, industrial parks, and urban service areas.
