The Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project, with a total length of 76km, connects Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, and Ho Chi Minh City, serving as a vital transportation axis for the Southeast region.

In terms of construction, the project is divided into four components: the Ho Chi Minh City section (Component 1) managed by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee; the Dong Nai section (Component 3) overseen by the Dong Nai People’s Committee; the former Binh Duong section, now part of Ho Chi Minh City (Component 5) previously managed by the Binh Duong People’s Committee, and now under Ho Chi Minh City’s jurisdiction; and the former Long An section, now in Tay Ninh province (Component 7) previously handled by the Long An People’s Committee and now under Tay Ninh’s management.

Specifically, Component 3, spanning over 11km in Dong Nai (excluding Component 1A), commenced in June 2023, simultaneously with other components along the route.

According to VTC News’ reporters, after more than two years of construction, the VTC News-Nhon Trach Bridge section of Ring Road 3 in Ho Chi Minh City (Component 1A) officially opened to traffic in late August 2025.

Observations show that from the Ring Road 3 – Ton Duc Thang Street intersection to the intersection with Road 769D, contractors are maximizing machinery and manpower to accelerate progress. On the construction site, the road surface is in the asphalt paving phase.

At the intersection with Road 769D (Nguyen Ai Quoc Street), the construction unit is rushing to complete the final stages of the overpass. Machinery and dozens of workers are being mobilized continuously to ensure the progress and early connectivity of the entire route.

Hoang Van Tai, a construction worker at the Ring Road 3 – Road 769D (Nguyen Ai Quoc Street) overpass, shared that the Southeast region is currently in the rainy season, posing challenges to the project’s progress. However, the construction unit has mobilized maximum manpower and machinery, arranging workers to work day and night. “We seize dry moments to work. Since it often rains during the day, we compensate by working at night to make up for lost time,” said Tai.

It is noted that about 300m from the intersection with Road 769D, several electricity poles have not been relocated, obstructing the construction site and directly impacting the project’s progress.

At the intersection of Ring Road 3 and the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway, contractors are focusing their manpower and machinery to expedite progress.

Currently, the construction unit is expediting embankment work and road construction, striving to complete the items before December 19, 2025, as directed by the Prime Minister.
The Ring Road 3 project in Ho Chi Minh City, specifically the Dong Nai section (Component 3), commenced in June 2023. However, during the first year of implementation, the project faced delays due to challenges in site clearance. In September 2024, while Component 7 reached 45% completion, Component 1 achieved 16%, and Component 5 reached 13%, Component 3 lagged behind with only 6% completion.
Facing the risk of falling behind, the Dong Nai People’s Committee took decisive action, instructing Nhon Trach district (formerly) to expedite site clearance and authorizing the provincial Project Management Unit to urge contractors to accelerate their work. As a result, significant progress has been made over the past year. Construction units have been working tirelessly day and night, racing against the sun and rain, with the shared goal of completing the project before December 19, 2025, as directed by the Prime Minister.
