To understand how a logistics company prepares for this decisive moment, we spoke with Mr. Phan Binh, Brand Director of J&T Express Vietnam.
An Overview of the Current Shopping Market
According to Vietnam Investment Review, Vietnam’s e-commerce market surpassed the $25 billion mark in 2024, a 20% increase from 2023, becoming one of the three largest markets in Southeast Asia.
Mr. Phan Binh, Brand Director of J&T Express Vietnam.
This growth rate puts unprecedented pressure on the logistics system, especially during peak shopping seasons. On Double 11 in 2024 alone, the global J&T Express system processed over 100 million orders within 24 hours, with a 73% increase in orders in Southeast Asia compared to the previous year (PR Newswire, 2024).
Internal data from J&T Express also shows that during major sales events like 9/9 and 11/11 in previous years, the number of orders increased by a minimum of 20% compared to regular months, forcing businesses to prepare their infrastructure and technology well in advance for smooth operations.
Infrastructure: The Backbone of Operational Strategy

J&T Express is ready for the year-end peak season with a modern vehicle and infrastructure system.
Regarding the investment in 315 new trucks, Mr. Phan Binh stated that this strategic move aims to strengthen transportation capabilities during peak periods. “The new vehicles help improve loading efficiency, shorten transit time, and reduce reliance on external resources, especially on provincial routes,” he said. Notably, all vehicles are equipped with a smart route management and tracking system, ensuring on-time delivery – a core element of the brand’s commitment to “Deliver on Time, Serve with Heart.”
Simultaneously, J&T Express has also introduced new transit centers in key regions, such as the one in Hanoi, spanning 38,000 square meters with 23 inbound gates and 150 outbound gates.
This center features dozens of conveyor belts and modern cargo handling areas with layers of control through an integrated DWS system for automatic barcode scanning, weight and dimension checking, ensuring optimal service for large volumes of goods and meeting the needs of customers, even during peak times.
This new capacity helps reduce the load on cross-regional routes from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi and improves efficiency in the northern region – which is witnessing an e-commerce boom.
Mr. Binh shared that the entire investment plan is designed to serve the “golden season” of the logistics industry from September 2025 to the end of Q4, including major sales events like 9/9, 10/10, 11/11, and 12/12. “We recognize the immense pressure of increased orders during this period, and only with sufficient infrastructure and technology can we ensure uninterrupted operations,” he emphasized.
In terms of technology, J&T is implementing an AI system for real-time order volume prediction and route optimization, along with a centralized operating system, synchronizing warehouses, transit centers, and delivery personnel. “Infrastructure is most effective when coupled with suitable technology,” Mr. Binh added.
Brand and Customer Perspective
J&T Express serves customers with the guiding principle of “Deliver on Time, Serve with Heart”.
According to Mr. Phan Binh, the main driver behind J&T Express’s aggressive expansion ahead of the year-end shopping season stems from the fact that, over the years, each major sale has seen a 20% average increase in orders compared to regular months. Notably, events like Double 11 and 12/12 attract orders not only from major platforms but also from numerous small and medium-sized enterprises and online shops in both urban and remote areas.
Mr. Binh emphasized that the infrastructure and technology upgrades aim not only to meet operational demands but also to reinforce the brand’s commitment. “A robust operating system will directly enhance customer satisfaction (CSAT) and strengthen J&T Express’s reputation. This is a key factor in maintaining our position as a trusted partner for e-commerce platforms and businesses of all sizes in Vietnam,” he shared.
Notably, J&T’s expansion plan is not limited to urban centers. The company is also establishing additional routes and pick-up points in distant districts, communes, and islands, enabling SMEs and small shops to access high-standard logistics services at more reasonable costs. “Whenever we add a new route or pick-up point, it’s not just about operations; it’s about expanding business opportunities for sellers in remote areas,” Mr. Binh said.
In terms of communication, Mr. Binh shared that J&T Express will focus on showcasing its ability to adapt to surges in order volume and conveying the message of standing by businesses during all peak seasons. “We don’t just deliver goods; we deliver trust,” he concluded.
