According to the leadership of Gia Binh Commune’s People’s Committee, Gia Binh has cleared over 800 hectares of land for the Gia Binh Airport project, impacting 15 villages. Notably, approximately 2,400 households have agreed to relocate their homes and thousands of graves to facilitate land clearance for the project. Nguyen Van Gau, Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee, stated that Gia Binh International Airport is a national key project of significant importance for transportation infrastructure. It will connect economic regions, support socio-economic development, and ensure national defense and security for both the country and the province.
This project requires the full engagement of the entire political system with the highest commitment to meet deadlines, ensure progress, and achieve high public consensus. It aims to balance the interests of residents, businesses, and the nation.
The Bac Ninh Provincial Steering Committee for the implementation of projects related to Gia Binh International Airport has launched an 80-day intensive land clearance campaign, a 256-day campaign to complete related projects, and a 468-day campaign to finish the road connecting Gia Binh Airport to Hanoi, within the province’s territory.
Mr. Gau added that, at one point, just four days after compensation payments began for the Gia Binh International Airport project, the locality had cleared over 100 hectares of land—an unprecedented record for land reclamation projects in Bac Ninh Province.
Gia Binh International Airport, covering nearly 1,960 hectares in Bac Ninh Province, aims to handle 30 million passengers and 1.6 million tons of cargo annually by 2030. By 2050, its capacity is expected to increase to 50 million passengers and 2.5 million tons of cargo per year.
