The authorities discovered over 1.4 tons of rice with foreign labels and packaging. At the time of the inspection, the facility was using a heat press to repackage sticky rice from 50 kg bags into smaller 1 kg and 5 kg bags.

The inspection team also found 1,400 finished packages, along with more than 22,000 foreign-language packaging bags without Vietnamese labels.

When questioned, Ms. Loi presented an import declaration for Lao sticky rice with 10% broken rice, packed in 50 kg bags, claiming it to be 100% new.

However, the repackaging of the product into foreign-language bags of unknown origin, without Vietnamese labels, and with suspected fake stamps and labels, violated Point e, Clause 7, Article 3 of the Government’s Decree No. 98/2020/ND-CP.

The case has been identified as involving violations of labeling and packaging regulations and may constitute the offense of trading in counterfeit goods. Team 3 of QLTT has seized all exhibits and transferred the case file to the Economic Police of Nghe An province for further investigation and handling in accordance with the law.
