The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has issued a document requesting Vietnam Airlines, VietJet, Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines, and Vietravel Airlines to consider increasing night flights to and from Binh Dinh province, departing from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

This request aims to meet the air transport demands during the 2025 summer peak season and accommodate a series of cultural, sports, and tourism events held in Binh Dinh province from June to September 2025. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam proposes that Vietnamese airlines coordinate with Phu Cat Airport to increase the frequency of night flights during this period.
Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam received a document from the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh province requesting an increase in night flights to and from Phu Cat Airport (Binh Dinh) from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Currently, Binh Dinh province is in its tourism high season (from June to September). The province is hosting a series of vibrant cultural, sports, and tourism events with national and international significance. These events include the “2025 Summer Tourism Events” in conjunction with VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon 2025; the Miss and Mr Supermodel World Beauty Pageant; hosting the 34th National Traditional Martial Arts Championship in 2025; and the 2025 National Youth 3×3 Basketball Championship, among other exciting cultural and sports events.
To meet the travel demands of tourists during this period and facilitate the development of tourism, the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh province has requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to approve night flights operated by airlines from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Cat Airport and vice versa, from June 2025 until the end of 2025.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has instructed airlines to develop detailed operation plans, increase resources for the summer peak, and particularly focus on tourist routes, which are expected to experience a significant surge in demand. According to the plan, 68,558 domestic flights will be operated during this period, an 18% increase compared to the same period last year.
Vietnam Airlines has announced that during the 2025 summer peak, they will operate more than 43,000 flights, offering nearly 9 million seats, which is a 14% increase compared to 2024. On the domestic network, they plan to operate 33,000 flights with over 6.3 million seats, a 28% increase compared to regular schedules. The airline will continue to operate early morning and late-night flights to enhance their service capacity.
