At the Monterey Car Week, Bentley unveiled the Ombré paint option on the Continental GT Speed. Ombré is a technique that seamlessly transitions from one hue to another, creating a smooth gradient effect.

Now, this special paint effect has been applied to the Flying Spur, set to debut at the Southampton International Boat Show this weekend. The car stands out with a subtle color transition from Topaz Blue at the front to Windsor Blue at the rear. The smooth, harmonious color shift across the doors, sills, and roof creates a truly unique appearance.

According to Bentley, the Ombré painting process requires meticulous precision and high skill from two expert painters, taking nearly 60 hours to complete. The intricate process begins with painting two distinct colors at the front and rear of the car. Subsequently, the paint layers are blended and applied in stages to ensure a seamless and symmetrical transition on both sides of the vehicle.

This level of craftsmanship and expertise comes at a premium price. Bentley states that Ombré by Mulliner is the most exclusive paint option available, starting at $68,000 (approximately 1.8 billion VND). This price tag is even higher than many other luxury models like the BMW 5-Series or Mercedes E-Class overseas.

This is indeed a substantial cost, and the number of cars painted with Ombré is extremely limited “due to the complexity of combining two paint colors.” Bentley explains that the colors must be carefully selected to “ensure a gradual and even transition.” The company must also avoid creating a third color, such as a transition from yellow to blue resulting in a green midsection.

Currently, there are only three Ombré paint options available. Alongside the Topaz Blue and Windsor Blue combination, customers can order Tungsten with Onyx or Sunburst Gold with Orange Flame. However, Bentley promises more color options in the future.
