Regarding tax handling for e-commerce business activities, the Ministry of Finance reported that they reviewed over 164,660 taxpayers, collecting a total of VND 747 billion in back taxes. Of this amount, the tax industry collected over VND 416 billion from businesses. There were also 25,201 cases involving individuals and households, resulting in additional tax revenue of more than VND 330 billion.

In the past five months, tax revenue from organizations and individuals engaging in e-commerce and digital economy activities reached VND 74,400 billion, a 55% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Among these, 158 foreign suppliers registered, declared, and paid taxes through the electronic portal, contributing VND 5,700 billion, a 41% increase year-on-year. Additionally, 100,000 households and individuals conducted their tax affairs through the electronic portal, paying nearly VND 1,100 billion.

Tax authorities reviewed nearly 165,000 online selling accounts.

In the first five months of the year, nearly 93,000 organizations and individuals involved in e-commerce activities paid VND 67,600 billion in taxes.

In a recent open letter to taxpayers, the tax authority recommended that business owners, legal representatives of enterprises, representatives of households and individuals engaged in e-commerce and digital business proactively learn about tax regulations and comply with tax registration, declaration, and payment obligations.

Individuals who have been or are currently engaged in e-commerce or digital business but have not registered for taxes should promptly register, declare, and pay taxes fully, on time, and accurately to the tax authorities.

If taxpayers do not cooperate, the tax industry will inspect and strictly handle cases of non-compliance or incomplete fulfillment of tax obligations according to regulations.

For those who deliberately refuse to comply, the tax authorities will build a case file and transfer it to the competent authorities for investigation and handling of tax evasion in accordance with the law.
